Expensive for poor durability

I bought these right as they came out. They had cost me $199 in 2016. 6 years later the battery died and the manyfacturer said they can’t so anything, they told me to buy a new pair! They don’t even provide battery replacement support or how to fix them. I can tell that on 6 years of usage, they did help SAD but not as much as bright white light. The good thing is that green light doesn’t give headaches. The Luminette gave me headaches even on low setting I tried to buy them instead and returned them. I’m most happy with my Verilux.

This helped me overcome a spate of insomnia that had my days and nights turned around. After months of trying without success to get up in the mornings and go to sleep at night, I found these glasses and it changed my life!

I've never been a morning person and got into the unfortunate habit of using caffeine to wake up in the mornings and an OTC sleep aid to get to sleep at night. So eventually, both the caffeine and the sleep aids stopped working and I was in real trouble. I purchased the ReTimers and used them extensively until my body adjusted to the proper sleep-wake rhythms.

It took about four days to really make the change. During that time, I actually didn't sleep at all, but was able to stay awake during the day because of the light that shone into my eyes. It was a rough few days but in the end, my body gave up and I was able to go to sleep when the sun set and wake up naturally in the morning at sunrise. No more caffeine and no more OTC sleep aids. I haven't had to take a sleeping pill for two months now and I hope I never need one again!

I still use these for about an hour each morning, because I am naturally slow to wake up and get going during the day and slow to wind down and go to sleep at night. The ReTimer Glasses keep me on track and help me not to go backwards.

I bought a pair of these glasses a couple of years as suggested by a doctor who specializes in treating sleep disorders. He had said that the two most important factors in treating sleep problems is 1) light therapy and 2) sticking to a sleep routine. I like these glasses because I wear them and still go about my daily routine. The box lights, in contrast, require me to stay in one place. These glasses are easy to set up and the charge lasts a good while. (Maybe a couple of weeks of daily use.).

I also want to commend this company for its excellent customer service. I like these glasses so much that I ordered a pair for another family member. There was an issue with delivery so I contacted the seller. They offered a refund or to send another pray using express shipping. They communicated with me clearly and quickly.

I am very impressed with the quality of these Re-timer glasses. Frame is sturdy, led's are crisp and clear, nice case, clear instructions. Charges quickly and lasts well. I wrote for support and got a quick clear and supportive response. These are backed by solid research and are marketed by the university that developed them. Whether they work for you depends to some extent on your particular type of sleep issue. I wake very early and get less than 6 hours sleep; they are helping a lot just like a light box did, but the light is less "shocking" or disturbing like a light box can be. I don't find them uncomfortable as some have, Since they are a medical device I understand they are built for efficacy and also built to fit a wide range of face/head sizes etc. so I dont expect them to fit/feel like a pair of Ralph Lauren glasses.

Four years out : for circadian rhythm problems, better than almost anything else I have tried. Unquestionably the best SINGLE option.

About a year ago, I ADDED the Circadian Optics lights. I would not use either alone now. Circadian Optics is brighter, but the Re-Timer lets you move about home / office. The CO lights are so bright they border on painful, making sustained use during a session impractical. The Re-Timer is gentle and can be used continuously for the recommended period. (The RT has a built-in timer.)

Again, using BOTH after awakening is what works best for me, punctuating the RT with bursts from the CO.

For me, they are NOT a “cure,” but they are more helpful (and less dangerous) than almost all pharmaceutical options. If you have diagnosed circadian rhythm problems, or think you might have such problems, chances are good you will find these worth the price.

Four years out, the internal batteries are beginning to fail. Time to replace them. $169 amortized over 3/4 years is CHEAP! Even generic pharmaceuticals ($10 monthly) cannot touch that.

Low-setting does not work

There are two settings: HIGH and LOW. The low setting would NOT work because it immediately advances to the high setting by itself. So, I returned and exchanged for another pair. Same problem: The low setting will NOT stay on low and it immediately advances to high power. I emailed customer service about this problem and they did not respond after two weeks , and so, was forced to return the glasses. NOTE: It is not recommended to use these glasses with children under age 13 but no reason is given as why. I would give it two stars because the high setting did work and I used them on myself before I returned them and seemed to help adjust my circadian rhythm. However, I did feel some eye irritation after only using them five minutes at a time. I would go with a full screen green/blue light that is square or rectangle so that you can adjust the intensity by the distance from the screen. Those devices are also less expensive and light on your skin has been shown by science to be as effective as just light in your eyes ( perhaps more so). I usually do not write reviews but am writing this one because they sent me two pairs of defective glasses, did not respond via customer service, and as a warning to others that be very careful if you think you are using the low setting make sure it is not really on "HIGH"

I absolutely love these light therapy glasses. They are so convenient to wear because you don't have to sit in one spot continuously during treatment. I have utilized a regular light therapy box in the past and I would say that the blue-green light from the re-timer glasses works much more effectively for me. I wear these glasses first thing in the morning for an energy boost at the beginning of my day and then I wear them again just before dinner to give me another jolt of energy for the evening hours. Just don't wear the glasses past 5 PM if you don't want your regular bedtime to be affected. This is a wonderful non medicated, natural way to give yourself a mood boost and additional energy, especially during the winter months. I Highly recommend buying from Amazon as the product website itself is much more expensive.
