I am presently collecting movies about the 'Battle of Britain' and those pilots who was involved in this historical event! I bought a book called 'The Battle of Britain Then an d Now' by the late John Holloway. This book is massive which has a total of 816 pages on all allied pilots lost in the aerial battle in 1940. Douglas Bader, the legless British pilot, is mentioned in this fantastic book!! This research I am doing is very exciting to say the least!! I plan to purchase more movies on the 'Battle of Britain' in the coming months!! Amazon has done it again! Thank you again!!

I am old enough to remember Douglas Bader during WWII and was thrilled with Kenneth More's superb performance as the luminous ace. He exactly caught the cheeky grin, arrogance with authority, dedication to whichever task he took on and charm with normal folks. If you're older, return to those days of grim tension for a while and remember the heroism, laughter and sheer guts of all involved, and if you're younger, step into a period of stark reality which gives a true idea of the times and triumphs of this extraordinary man.

This INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY of Douglas Bader shows how a man faced with an INCREDIBLE LOSS overcame the odds and was an inspiration to others.Bader was a pilot who lost both legs(One below the knee, the other above the knee) and was fitted with artificial legs. Not only did he learn to walk on the new legs but flew in THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN.He was shot down and captured by the Germans. That did not stop him from making several escape attempts. To stop him the Germans would take away his legs.Today we make a hero out of an OVERPAID athlete who breaks his leg or an actor who is injured while making a film.Watch this film and read about the real Douglas Bader in books.

Just as I remembered the movie as a teen, the incredible courage and impact of Douglas Bader in WWII. He was a true Hero and ably represented by Kenneth More.

Its a compressed history of Douglas Bader, but they could have done worse. They filmed it when the last Spitfires were going out of service, and while they didn't spend a whole lot of money on the picture, they as well as they could with British cinema. This is a film that could have the special effects updated with better CGI and it would be very impressive. Dogsbody....see the movie. Bader was one of those rare men of history that was a force all their own.

This movie was typical of its era portraying the subject matter in the child like way of the times. It is an essential movie about Doug Bader and what he symbolized about the British, the RAF and the Battle of Britain. Too bad they used Kenny Moore for the leading role, though. Too sanitized and flat to really explain what Bader was all about. Read the book, too. Brickhill did a good job of telling the story of the "legendary" Bader.

In my effort to obtain all the Battle for Britain movies ever made this is certainly a worth while addition. Particularly since is a largely true story. This one ranks well with any of the other higher budget movies made about this era.

Excellent quality DVD with zero flaws in the process. Saw this many years ago on my vhs, so was very pleasantly surprised by the quality. Douglas Bader's story is an inspiration for everyone, whether disabled or not. Recommended.
