I now have 2 of these. A couple of months ago, I began a sciatica nightmare. I am still healing and still being super careful. Bending over to pick up things is not something I should do if it can be avoided. The grabber has significantly reduced my need to bend. I use it inside and out. I am amazed at the ways it has helped out. The first one I purchased over a year ago, mostly to help me reach items on my highest pantry shelf. It still works like new. I keep the second one at the other end of the house. Just today I used it to pick up a safety pin off of a tile floor. I felt sure that would be a challenge and if it did work, it would probably take lots of tries. Nope. I got it on the second try. My first try shouldn't even count because I didn't have it angled well. Another favorite use before my back decided to torture me was using it to move aside sticks while on my riding mower. My mower was cutting out anytime I got up from the seat, so the grabber kept me from needing to restart the mower over and over. Bottom line - I love this tool!!!

I have these stashed at various places around the home so one is always handy. At my age they have saved me a lot of bending. I have used the all plastic cheap models and managed to break each one. I like the smooth operation and pistol grip on this one. What I mean by smooth operation is the tongs can be slowly closed, there is not a break point as you close the grip where they are open and suddenly close.

Just remember to to stay in within the weight limit and not try to pick up bowling balls or cement blocks it will last a long time.

I am 6'4" and would like to have it 6" or so longer and I don't quite understand why they made the shaft out of aluminum and the tongs plastic as the tongs are the weakest point.

They come with no instructions so you have to figure out how to rotate the tongs, which to me is a useless feature.
