From then on she was hooked into a life of using drugs. Drugs became her number one passion over everything else, even her children. One day the bottom fell out of everything. She woke up in the hospital, handcuffed to the bed, her girls were missing. Isabel was at the bottom, she had choices to make. She could clean up her act and try to get her girls back, or continue down this sad and awful road and probably never see her girls again and maybe go to jail.
Isabel makes the decision to clean up her act. She finds the road to recovery very hard and dark. She is not sure who she can really trust, or if it will all be worth it if she can't get her girls back. She fights the demons and continues on. Will she succeed with her goal? Will she get her girls back? This book is about Isabel's fight to leave addiction behind.
This book is full of emotion. It tears at your heart, it makes you angry, you will also be routing for Isabel to succeed. Eva Winters did a wonderful job portraying this woman's journey through addiction and recovery. Isabel also learned about becoming selfless and growing as a person and mom. I absolutely loved this book about Isabel's journey in Reaching Hope.
Isabelle is a very courageous woman. She comes back from the depths of hell and grows into someone I would be proud to know.
Isabelle's journey starts taking a downhill dive when her husband is killed in the line of duty.
She slowly and progressively spirals out of control in terms of her drug use. She eventually hits rock bottom when her 'dealer' kidnaps OD's her and then kidnaps her two girls. She also makes shocking decisions around men in this period of her life.
She looses custody of her kids, while she is in rehab. She cleans up and begins to be a counselor at the rehab centre she attends. She is slowly starting to get her life on track. Her main aim is to get her girls back.
She gets to a point in her life where she needs to make a decision about her children. What decision does she make? Does she do what is right for her or for her girls?
The decision she makes will have a major impact on both her life as well as theirs.
A fantastically heart wrenching, intense and well written book. A well deserved 5 stars!
I look forward to reading more of Eva's work.
I voluntarily read this ARC and have given my honest and unbiased opinion of the book, as I have experienced it.
This story takes you on the slow fall and the awesome rise of Isabel Navarro. Isabel was trying to live her happily ever after but the one person who brought her joy was taken form her. On her own trying to raise her two precious daughters - Ana and Vanessa - it is a struggle but she is maintaining. She is let down by her life long best friend and really doesn't know who to turn to for support. She ends up turning to the girls she works with and begins to use pot as a relaxer.
When she meets a man she thinks might be a good guy he ultimately tricks her into using heroin. As she spirals out of control, doing everything for her high she realizes she needs to get clean for her girls. When the unthinkable happens and her girls are kidnapped by the man she loathes she must stop her pity party and do what needs to be done to find and get her girls back.
This is a story that will tug at your heart strings and why you may judge Isabel your heart will break for her as well. She truly changed her life around and it shows what having a good support system and people who believe in you can do to help you.
As a mother she made the ultimate selfless sacrifice and my heart broke when she decided to do it. I was glad she may have found a HEA for herself in the end.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
