Whether you tweet, text, or yammer, Read Between the Lines will fast-forward your ability to communicate in the new world. I thought I was an early pioneer in texting. By reading RBTL, I learned more in thirty minutes than I had in five years of finger typing. More importantly, I learned how to look cool to my children. You need to get to the point, be clever, and figure out how to take advantage of the limited space (characters) provided by services like Twitter. The new world is here now, and you better get hip or get deleted.

My doctoral research shows that there is much more to texting than abbreviations and phonetic spelling: Texting is a creative, expressive, and practical outlet for a surprising range of uses. In short, texting deserves much better press than it usually gets! It's great to see a book like Read Between the Lines address texting in such an entertaining and informative way.

We believe that public safety must be prepared for and utilize technology that is available today and in the future. Cell phones and text messaging have become a mainstay in our society; thus public safety must adapt to this new avenue of communication. Because we must reach out to all of our citizens, text messaging opens many doors. We are very proud of our small role in becoming the first in the nation to provide this service to the citizens of Black Hawk County, Iowa.

I like the flexibility texting offers. I can ask a question as I go along in a class and get students to respond quickly and en masse. All I need is the number they text to, and I don t need pre-prepared Power Point slides with the question and a choice of answers.

Read Between the Lines: A Humorous Guide to Texting with Simplicity and Style
With "simplicity and style", she covers the in vogue way of
communicating. If you are one who is curious about, or reluctant to
join into one of the world's newest and most widely used forms of
communication, look no further. Texting HAS arrived, and this book wonderfully
covers the subject. Current events, such as the recent earthquake in Haiti,
confirms the importance of this new means of communication. And if you
have children, this is a MUST read. I highly recommend this book. It
is informative, fun, and filled with delightful illustrations. After you read it, this
book will be one to leave out for others to see and read!
