Cons - Just because there is not descriptive sex does not mean I would qualify this as sweet. It is definitely an adult novel as they talk about sex A LOT, it just doesn't give full descriptions of the actual act. Definitely PG-13 or higher level when I consider sweet to be PG level.
Leanna is unlike anyone that Kurt has ever known which means she's just the one he needs to pull him away from his computer upon occasion. Leanna feels that she is too flighty and unguided, but with Kurt - she realizes that she is just trying to find her way.
Here are just a few of the swoony moments:
"Point taken, but won't he be a total mood killer?...I'm not sure there's any such thing when I'm around you."
"I've written less, but I've never enjoyed my life more than I have this past week with you, Leanna. If this is what it feels like to live in an upside-down world, then I never want to be right-side up."
"You are my moment."
This is a great introduction to what is sure to be a fun series as the Seaside girls fall in love without any explicit details, but still lots of allusion to hot and steamy times!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
The whole experience was beautiful. Simple thoughts, complicated problems, and a flow as easy to go with as the ocean that our characters constantly visited when they weren't adulting. I seriously loved how sweet and light-hearted and... I don't know. It's like all the nice and beautiful things were poured into this book, with the bit of spice to make the love go 'round. It was such a great way to take a break from the harsh realities and actually dive into one of the happiest places I've visited in a long while. And the best part? Kurt and Lea have problems, so it's not like it's a Mary Sue novel. There's legit reasons for worry but it was never too much for me. Did I cry? Yeah, but at the same time, it all still felt like a modern day fairy tale that I couldn't get enough of.
*honestly and voluntarily reviewed the ARC I received from IndieSage PR, and decided to have an Amazon copy for myself*
Ms. Cole you have really written an excellent book #1 to what I'm sure will be an excellent series. I loved this story and highly recommend it to everyone.
Read, Write, Love at Seaside is a sweet, toned down romance of the story Read, Write, Love by Melissa Foster. It features Kurt Remington, a mystery writer and Leanne Bray, an up and coming entrepreneur who makes her living by selling jams and jellies.
Kurt is visiting Cape Cod for the summer to his writing retreat so that he can finish his latest manuscript. There, he meets Leanne and the two quickly fall for each other. But, when the summer ends, Kurt has to go back to his life in New York and an amazing business opportunity is keeping Leanne on the island. So, will they able to work it through?
I loved this story. So much. I actually breezed through it in about 2.5 hours just before I sat down to review it. I absolutely adore Melissa Foster's writing, so it was an amazing afternoon with me and my book and this amazing story! <3
I really adore Kurt. He's so sweet with Leanne and her friends. He's all smiles and charm and is always helping them out with stuff and just hanging out with them so that Leanne doesn't have chose between him and her friends, who are also visiting the island for the summer. I like that. He is also very thoughtful with Leanne's dog, Pepper. It's so cute to watch them. Leanne, Kurt & Pepper became this cute little family that I adored b the end of the story. They're so freaking perfect together. I love how Kurt is always there for Leanne and how he's proud of all her accomplishments with the business. He always supports her in all her endeavours and is helpful without being condescending. So, yes, I adore him.
And, then, there's Leanne. She's an outgoing free spirited girl who's a walking chaos unlike Kurt who likes to keep his life organized to the tee. She's smart and charming and driven. She's a little unsure when it comes to her newfound business, but only because everything is new, but she isn't hesitant to take the reigns and just give it her everything. I love how she makes time for her friends even though she's in a new relationship. I mean, in all these novels we see how the main leads don't spend anytime with their friends once they start dating and it was nice to see that that was not the case here.
All in all, this book was a fun read that I absolutely adored. The romance was so well written, the characters were amazing and the plot was believable. You should definitely pick it up if you're a romance fan! :D
