So I tried the program for the first time today, my daughter is now 2 years old and a month, the program captured her attention the moment it was on. She tried to mimic the signs and understand the correlation of its movements and our common hand gestures of such words. She interacts nicely. And speaks out the words in interest.
I have to note that she is actually a good speaker, and English is her second language not first.
The only downside I have is the graphics of the nursery rhymes. It’s just a little... hmm, not well made. A bit unclear at some parts. And having to wear the same outfit throughout the clips (Pauline with his daily clothes on bed instead of PJs) can be a bit weird? But maybe the point is for children to recognize him? Don’t know. But it sort of creeps me out. Furthermore, the visual side of it like cards and images aren’t very strong (the print outs not the videos) in a way that some images are poorly cropped or downsized that it’s unclear or looks a little weird beside its word. If it was illustrated realistically or the images would be incorporated more smartly it would make a difference but that’s fine.
I might give it a go on an earlier stage for my 6 months old twins. Just like what my brother said: “this educational thing where you teach sign alongside it seems impossibly interesting.” - I don’t even know what that meant.
My children have advanced beyond the scope of this program now that they have grown older, but we still get several sets a year as gifts for friends and family. You can't beat this gift for anyone with toddlers. Its unique and thoughtful is always well appreciated. When you can't think of what present to get for that 1yo birthday party, this is a no brainer.
