This is a great little book for those interested in knowing which books to read from authors that have a conservative viewpoint. The Author has been on the scene for a long time and has been in contact with many of the Authors he prescribes.
The books listed are from the areas of conservative thought on Economics, Statesmanship, Religion (though not decidedly evangelical), American History, Totalitarianism, World History, World Politics, Public Policy, Political Culture, Unconventional Thought and Literature.
I would consider myself a lover of books and mainly of these very subjects so I was very happy to find many that I had not heard of. If you are one that doesn't like to read from the liberal perspective because your heart can't take it here is a gem of book.

Needle in a shitstack

I can't give a rating just yet for I haven't dove into this book yet. But I will say this. I consider myself more on the left than on the right. I read a good amount of books that are considered "left" and although I like strengthening my left muscle, I feel that my right muscle is not being worked out at all. And everyone knows a boxer with only one strong hand is a loosing bet. I also feel that 99% of the right wing media is an absolute joke. Sensationalism, immature bickering, and argument hijacking permeates the right. But I know there are intelligent republicans out there, and the closer I get to 30 years old the more and more I am starting to believe they have some good points.

That is what I am hoping to find with this book. Just know that there are liberals out there that aren't complete bleeding hearts. I want to have respect for the right, but the current state of media makes that EXTREMELY difficult to do. And don't get me wrong, the left is just as sensational and messed up as the right. Finding thoughtful literature out there now of days is like finding a needle in a shitstack.

I have been looking for a book to begin a more studied approach to increasing my knowledge of the origins and the growth and changes to the conservative school(s) of thought. This was an amazing resource and I wound up buying multiple copies for my conservative friends. If this is what you are looking for as well, RECOMMENDED highly. As to the negative reviews, please ignore. Looking to those for relevant criticisms is like reading a steak house review from a vegetarian; there's nothing wrong with being a vegeterian, you just have to question why the h*ll they are reviewing the offerings of a steak house (grin).
