My son loves the Ready Freddy series and, normally, I like them, too. But this one bothered me. I have looked past the name-calling and sometimes rude behavior in the other books of this series because my son truly enjoys these stories; I simply use these instances to teach my son a lesson about the importance of kindness. But this book's lesson about giving was undermined by dishonesty and disrespect. After a friend explains to Freddy the joy of giving, he wants to add things to his Christmas list to give to homeless children. Instead of being honest and explaining this to his mom, he lies to his mother several times and then sneaks into her room to retrieve the list his parents had taken from him. Why would the author overshadow a generous attitude with deceit and sneakiness? Additionally, the sister barges into Freddy's room and rips at the list that Freddy tries to hide, illustrating a disregard and lack of respect for privacy. I used these instances of bad behavior to point out to my son the bad decisions that both Freddy and his sister made, but that would not have been necessary if the author, herself, would have made better decisions while writing this book. Bottom line, there are better stories to teach the lesson of giving to others. The author let down her readers with this one.

I like this book because it was quite funny. One thing the author did well was the illustrations, even though I dislike black and white, but I liked these. My favorite part was when Freddy scrapped his Christmas list and made one for homeless people. My favorite character was Suzie because she waited in the huge line so Freddy could see Santa. I would recommend this book for people looking for kid friendly books.

Wow! The Perfect Present is awesome! This book is about a boy making a list of what he wants for Christmas. This book reminds me of another Ready Freddy book called Homework Hassles. Both books have Freddy making a list of things he wants to do or get. I think you will love reading The Perfect Present and anything else in the Ready Freddy series.

Our puppy enjoyed this book so much, that he ate the cover off when we borrowed it from the library, so we ordered a replacement for them! My daughter loves the Ready Freddy series, fun books, and pretty easy read. Highly recommend!

This book is a total waste of money. I don't like the book. The main character is spoiled and ungrateful. I want my money back! I'm warning you. Don't read the book.

rather than explaing to your child why giving and sharing with others is so self fulfilling it's better to give the floor to Freddy as he does it so convincingly :)
