~ What ~
This numbered twelve-page board book with rounded corners and five page-tabs targets children ages four to eight years old who enjoy the story of Jesus’s birth. With the left side of the pages being a bright yellow background with a sentence or two about Jesus being born, underneath are eight colorful objects with their names listed. The opposite pages are detailed and colorful illustrations that matches the story and contain each of the objects to find.
The simple story includes Joseph and Mary going to Bethlehem, being told there was no room at the inn, and having to stay in a stable, as well as Jesus being born and the shepherds and wise men visiting the Savior of the world.
~ Why ~
Having a three-year-old grandchild who lives out of state, I cannot wait to share this cute and fun book with her because she loves to match up duplicate pictures. I like how the illustrations are colorful while being easy to identify with some of the same items included again on other pages. It reinforces the Christmas story while searching for objects in the artwork.
~ Why Not ~
Those who do not believe in Christ or have a personal relationship with Him will probably avoid this book that contains Christ’s birth. Some beginner readers may have trouble reading the book by themselves.
~ Who ~
No information is offered regarding the illustrator.
~ Wish ~
It would help if some of the complicated wording were easier to understand for the younger listeners. I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence.
~ Want ~
If you are looking for an engaging children’s book that is interactive with objects to find in the illustrations, this makes an excellent addition to a child’s bookcase.

Ready, Set, Find Christmas is a children’s story and activity book by Zonderkidz. It is a board book, though the pages are a bit thinner and more flexible than some board books. The book has ten pages, and each set of two pages features a brief narrative and picture key on the left-facing page and an illustration on the right-facing page. For example, one left-facing page discusses how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to give birth to God’s son, along with a picture key of eight things to find in the illustration on the right-facing page: a lamb, a lizard, a donkey, a bag, a water bottle, a palm tree, a bird, and a shepherd.
The book is designed in a simplistic manner, and would probably be best for 3-year-olds. The characters look like cartoonized clay figures. The sentences are constructed at a very basic level, such as: When Mary and Joseph came to Bethehem, the innkeeper said, “There is no room.” Where would they sleep? The baby would be born soon. He would need a warm place to stay.
The best thing about this book is that it gets children interested in the nativity story, by combining the account of Jesus’ birth with the fun activity of locating pictures in the illustrations.

Ready, Set, Find Christmas by Vanessa Carroll is a great interactive book for you and your child. You can sit with them, read the bible verse, and search for the pictures together. As you complete this Christmas activity, you can explain to your child the true meaning of Christmas in a fun, educational way.
There are 48 objects in the book for your child to find including: animals, everyday objects, and some uncommon items. The colors of the book are bold and intriguing; your child will want to read Ready, Set, Find Christmas again and again.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is quite durable...it can easily be wiped off if sticky or dirty little hands hold it.
The book is quite colorful and the pictures are defined so that little ones can recognize animals, Mary & Joseph and Baby Jesus.
The tabs are interesting because the adult can tell the child what the picture on the tab is and then the child is to find that "picture" in the big picture on the story page; hence, Ready Set, Find Christmas.
It is definitely a book for little ones since a child older than 3 would be completely bored with it.
The story line is very simplistic. It's really the colors that catch the child's eye.
A cute book for a first book.
