This is a required text for a UHD (University of Houston-Downtown) class. Saved me money to rent it here on Amazon by at least 30 buck verses renting it from campus book store. The book is easy to read and follow...standard college book.

I don't know if my professor was taking from the text to create her exams and objectives for the speeches, but whenever I read, I could deliver to an A, which was more than satisfying for someone I would consider a tad shy.

Did I actually not hate reading a text book? I found this book to be easy to read. I enjoyed the pop culture references too. I felt it made it easier to understand the concepts. I really enjoyed this course and book.

Graphics and text are excellent. Easy to read.
In my opinion, the authors made too many pop culture references. Examples are always good, but sometimes, students should just think about something.

This a great, easy to read book, with real life scenarios to relate to. It also includes pop culture references like celebrities, tv shows, gaming, etc. making it more relatable. The part I liked most was at the end of every chapter, there's a one page study guide that lists the main topics with page numbers to go back and reference.

This is an excellent book with up-to-date situations, examples, and illustrations. There are so many aspects of communication that I wasn't aware of and this book did a wonderful job of explaining them. Not to mention it was required for my Speech 1 class.

The book came in just as promised for a great price! Came in great handy for my HCOM class too. Word of advice: Human Communications IS NOT common sense!

Review of amazon not the book. I haven't read the book yet, but I've purchased the kindle version for my spring semester class. Please know that this book does not work on the three versions of the Kindle reader - Cloud Reader, Kindle Windows 8 reader, and the original kindle. As a student, I have limited resources and as I have a Windows 8 PC and an original Kindle, my three choices are: return the kindle version and purchase the paperback, get a PC with windows 7 (or downgrade from Win8 to Win7), or purchase an apple product (e.g. ipad or iphone) to use the kindle version. Please be warned, the product details do not tell you this.
