This book revolves around Brooke who lost her chance at the Olympics because of an injury and latter pursues a career as a sports therapist. And then one day she was pretty much conned by her friend to go out to an underground MMA type fight party they were invited to and that is where Remington “riptide” Tate, the sexy bad boy fighter makes an appearance and the rest is history.
I don’t even know where to begin with Remy, he is every women’s wet dream on the outside but in the inside, he’s got all sorts of things going on that tear at my heart strings. Despite all his medical issues he is sexy and caring and so giving of the people he loves that I feel doesn’t just make him strong on the outside but on the inside too.
Brooke is a character that take a bit to grow on you. I still don’t know what made her so unique as to grab Rips attention and I wish the author made that clearer because I truly don’t see anything special about her. Why did Rip want her so badly, who knows I’m confused? But as the story went on and if you by pass all her inner talking, she isn’t too bad of a female lead. I like how you see her grow some in this book into a real person and hope she grows more in the others.
Now let’s talk about the book itself, the author spends a good 60+% building this intense sexual tension between these two characters that you could literally feel it through the pages. At times, I was like “enough already, just have sex” I almost had to put the book down for a second because I was getting over its already. That is one reason why I’m giving the book a 4.5 star instead of a full 5 stars and the other is because there was sooooo much inner monologue with the main character Brooke that I felt that the book wasn’t moving forward and stayed stagnant most of the times. I wanted there to be more than just sexual frustration in the book, I wanted an actual story and that didn’t happen till after Rip got some cookie from Brooke. Don’t get me wrong this book is flippin amazing but I wish the first 65% of the book wasn’t only spend on the sex build up and more in an actual story which didn’t really happen till the last 30% or so of the book.
Overall, I did love the book and will get the next one because I can’t get enough of Remy.
Brooke is a fallen athlete that is now a Physical Therapist looking for work. She goes to an underground fight with her best friend Melanie and she sees Remington "Riptide" Tate and she feels something that she has never felt before. Remy convinces her to work for him and to come on tour with him. Forces are trying to pull them apart as Remy faces evil in the face of a vengeful fighter named Scorpion. Remy is fighting many demons but is this something that Brooke can see past and will she make Remy her Real?
OMG! What can I say about this book? I absolutely love Remy and Brooke's story. This book brought me to tears because you feel the pain of what Remy and Brooke are facing. This is a story of triumph through love. Truly moving story of one man's pain and the woman who becomes his touchstone. How you fight for love even when the odds are against you. Read this story and fall in love with Katy Evans, she truly is an artist, the way she paints the story for us to fall in love with. All the others characters are just as lovable; Pete, Riley, Melanie, Pandora, Kyle, Diane and of course Coach.
