I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is such and informative book. It reads like a novel rather than a history book. It brings Thomas Jefferson to life as a real man rather than just a historical figure. It was a book that each time I picked it up I was excited to start reading again. I highly recommend this book. It is so important for us to know our history. We have an incredible story.

I utilize customer reviews heavily when I am trying to decide on a purchase and consider reviews a valuable tool for us as consumers to make informed choices as to where we spend our money. Sometimes I will come back and give more information should I notice new things along the way. Truely Enlightening

I have always found US history to be somewhat boring and always avoided studying the subject, but this book truely opened my eyes to just how interesting and amazing US history can be. I found this book truely entertaining in the way that it was written and how the story is told of Jefferson's life. To sum the book up in a word, I would say that it was enlightening. Jefferson truely was an amazing man and played a huge role in the founding of this country. Maybe this book would not be for the serious history buff or history professor that is looking to uncover new and unknown information, but if you are the average person like me that would like to read about history, presented in a more entertaining fashion, this is your book. The book uncovers many details that you probably never learned in your high school history class.

One our best Presidents

I learned so much more about this outstanding individual and the principles that he advocated and believed. It is amazing that the central issue then in 1800 was very similar to today, more or less federal government and the attitude toward our national debt.
More people should read about Thomas Jefferson to appreciate his contributions to this country. He truly believed the principles of the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, (which he had a major influence in advising Madison).
I was very impressed that he used his own money to entertain guests at the White House, totally unlike today when our president takes million dollar vacations with taxpayer money.
I would be very proud to be Jeffersonian Republican.

Excellent book on TJ with many of his writings included so you can read for yourself what he said and believed. The Sally Hemings affair is denied by the author, but realize this book was written before the recent DNA findings. Book divided into two sections; the first is the biography and the second an index of TJ's writings. A good source for those interested in the life of this amazing Founder.

This "American Classic Series" of biographies, (also G. Washington & B. Franklin) is absolutely the best format for biographies I have ever read. They have unfortunately soured my attitude toward all others. Regarding Jefferson, I learned quite a lot about this estimable gentleman in this book and more importantly, I believe it.

This book is very easy to read and hard to put down. I also believe this book would be very appropriate for junior high or high school students. Jefferson is my favorite founding father and President; so I might be jaded on this book because finally an author portrays Jefferson as a great man. The author also explains that Jefferson's favorite nephew was responsible for the elicit affairs that Jefferson took the blame for. A must read for students of founding history.

In today's world few even know who this man is not to speak of what he did in building our great country. Of especial value are page after page of Thomas Jefferson's own words on many various subjects. Recently I was able enlighten a very liberal young Social Studies teacher from information gained from this book.
