Real Treats: 68 delicious gluten, grain and dairy free sweets, from snacks to desserts Kindle Edition

I created this book because I am a passionate real foodist and want to help in this era of crazy, degenerative illness in our world. I speak, conduct workshops, pantry clear outs and office well being sessions, and am a Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Ambassador. This is my first book and I'm excited to share it with you all because while health is awesome, food that tastes boring is a total waste of time. It MUST be enjoyable and delicious. This book is for those that suffer junk or refined food addiction and guilt patterns, as well as it is for people who have intolerance, allergies or preferences when it comes to cutting out major allergens such as gluten, grain, dairy and refined sugars. Imagine looking at someone with their donut or candy bar and having a complete feeling of indifference - like you couldn't give two hoots about what they're having and you certainly wouldn't dream of having the same. Perhaps you're like that already or maybe you've only recently started the journey. I believe it's really easy to let go of all the bad stuff - by taking the time to redefine treats for ourselves, and that's what we do in this book together. How can things that are more addictive than narcotics to our brains, be a healthy part of life? How can ingredients that are continuing to cause more obesity, more allergies and more behavioural problems in our children, be treats? I aim to make the transition to real food and healthier sweets delicious, fun and exciting - Think about the deliciousness you're adding IN, not what you're taking away. It's my mission for people to feel awesome. Food is a massive part of that. Treats are a pivotal place that people 'fall down' on. Real Treats will help you look at what we call a treat currently in our culture, and see it for what it really is. Then you can free yourself from the guilt and pleasure cycle of processed, refined sweets for good. Secondly, it invites you into a world of achievable and delectable deliciousness. You'll feel nourished, treated and satisfied and embrace cooking and all the good things it does for your health, your family, and the planet - even with sometimes treat foods! Enjoy malted chocolate drinking powder, simple instant ice creams, cakes and cobblers and celebrate Real Treats. If we're going to get healthy and pass health onto our next generations, it starts in our kitchens. We don't need a manual, a system or an overly strict regime of calorie counting. We just need real food, a positive attitude and a new found excitement for creating delicious things in our kitchens that really are treats.Everyone can do this. If you want to start. I want to help. Shall we bake?

Cook books tend to be about the things we'd like to eat but often feel guilty about. Because deep down we know there's something wrong with sugar piled high, or lots of additives to enhance flavour etc.. Real Treats is way different. It's an education into food groups, nutrition and fun.
Alexx Stuart clearly sets out a theme that rides through this book that good food is and should be a core part of a better health plan from the get-go. In Real Treats you'll find a solid introduction through her own journey of the problems of poor diet, to the solutions she researched and gradually adopted. And what's particularly appealing is that none of this is difficult. The right ingredients, a thought-through eating plan, and the need to ensure balance. Less pills and more purpose! It's all here.
The book enables a read from start to finish, comfortably in a home afternoon, or a dip-in when looking for inspiration any time.
When used to its potential this will sit in the very visble part of a good kitchen, get used at least weekly, and supplemented by Alexx's inspiring and useful blog site, which is quirky and lots of humourous and sometimes very serious updates.
Thoroughly worthwhile addition. At this price it is impossible to justify not owning this book, and installing it on your electronic reading device, whether Kindle, iPad or Galaxy. May not be what your mother taught you. But it's what you need to know about eating better, with real ingredients that nourish and replenish.

A little over three months ago I significantly changed my diet. No-one was more surprised than myself that I have been able to remain for the most part wheat, gluten, dairy, sugar and processed-food free. I also only occasionally drink alcohol. Aside from thinking more clearly and having a greater sense of wellbeing I also lost 10 kilograms. I am extraordinarily happy about that and now actually believe it will be possible to lose another 10. In the transition to eating well one of the many people who inspired me was Alexx Stuart. She was posting sublime photos on instagram of amazing treats that were wheat, gluten, and dairy free. I couldn't wait for her book to come out and as soon as I saw it was available on Amazon I downloaded it.

You do not need to have any specific dietary issues to buy and make every single recipe in this book. I am gathering the necessary staple ingredients myself and hope to do a Julia and Julia kind of thing where I attempt them all. The book is divine and to be honest if the paper version is published I shall also buy that.

Congratulations Alexx. I know it was a lot of hard work but please don't stop there!

Alexx's much anticipated e-cookbook lives up to its name and then some!! Full of fabulous recipes that are gluten and grain free with most of them able to be dairy free - Real Treats is a treasure chest of healthy recipes that will nourish our minds and bodies. I can't decide what to make first - so I am glad it is Friday as I have the whole weekend to play around with her recipes. Her dedication says it all - where she acknowledges her young son and all the little people in the world saying 'may we bring them up to be healthier and stronger than the last generation'. Getting back to real food and real cooking is what it is all about and this cookbook gives you the tools to make truly delicious treats!!! Can't wait to see what she has in store for her next e-cookbook (no pressure!!!!).

I've been reading Alexx's Real Food blog for 18 months and this is the book I've been waiting for her to write.

Alexx has changed how I bake and shop and think in that order. She has a way of making everything seem simple and within reach, where other 'real food gurus' make it sound all too hard. Her approachable and 'real' writing style will get under your skin.

Back to the book. It's not just a recipe book, it's also an organizational tool and a mind shifter. Many of the recipes are done and dusted in less than 30 minutes, and the ones I've tried taste amazing. I'm thrilled to have them all in one place now and not to have to worry about raw chocolate fingerprints on my laptop keys from this day forward.
Go buy it, you're worth every cent.

This book contains great recipes that suit our diet, but the format of the ebook itself is terrible. It would also have been great to see photos of the recipes.

I have been a huge fan of Alexx's blog for a while. I love her approach to food and her absolute desire to break the link we all have between treats and guilt. I also love her committed approach to removing 'numbers' and engineered ingredients from what we eat. As someone who has suffered horribly from allergies over the years, Alexx's recipes are an absolute godsend - it's so nice to make a tasty treat and know that every ingredient in it is good for me in some way (and isn't going to send me into a sinus infection spiral from hell).
I know Alexx wants to change the way the world looks at food ... especially 'sweet treat' type food ... and I have no doubt that this first book of hers is a huge step towards her achieving her dream.

Real Treats has some great and inspiring recipes...... As a mother of three children, I am looking out for nourishing treats that I can create for my family. Since starting the real food journey 2 years ago my children felt like they missed out after removing all processed foods. But I am happy to say with the addition of Alex's book things are about to change!! I highly recommend this great book for anyone with food allergies or on a real food mission. IT"S FANTASTIC!!

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but just looking through at the ingredients I can see that I'm going to be able to make some delicious stuff, actually be able to find the ingredients without leaving the county and without needing weird equipment. The pictures look good... Though I'd ideally like a picture for every recipe...
I will not be feeling deprived now I have thus book...
