But (and it's a BIG but)...ok, let's talk about the cliffhanger. Look, If you're gonna end with one, you need to do it RIGHT. There's cliffhangers that leave me filled with anticipation for the next book, and then there's cliffhangers that just feel like a cheap manipulation trick. This book is definitely the latter. Am I alone on this one? probably. But honestly, after I read that last scene, I didn't feel like OMG I need the next book RIGHT NOW! It was more like, screw this author. And screw the sequel. LEARN HOW TO END A FREAKING BOOK. Seriously, the irritation on this one outweighed any desire to know what happens next.
Anyway, my rating for this book stands at 4 stars, but I won't be buying the next one. This was my first taste of this author, and I think I'm done. The meal was good but the sour aftertaste from that last bite doesn't go away too easily. Have a little faith that we'll buy your next book because you're a good writer instead of lowering yourself to resorting to this bullsht.
Where to even begin with this train wreck. I almost DNF'd this book several different times. If it hadn't been for the actual storyline being "interesting" I probably would have sooner. Finally though I had enough and couldn't waste anymore time on it. And that's exactly how I feel. That I not only wasted time on this book but also my money on it.
Every other word is a cuss word. I'm not lying. I'm not a prude. Truly I am not, but geeze is it necessary to say *** **** ******* ***** and a variety of other cuss words over and over to make a story good? I've read plenty of "rock star" themed books that didn't have excessive cussing that were five star reads. I don't get it.
Along with excessive use of cuss words is excessive drug use. Apparently if a character is a "rock star" or is a "groupie, roadie or band member" then they have to constantly abuse drugs. That I could ALMOST see. Almost.
What truly made me throw in the towel is the fact that the hero and heroine decide to have sex on a dirty bathroom floor. Where there is not only bits of soggy toilet paper on the floor but discarded tampon wrappers as well. Seriously? Is this author for real? If you're going to have sex in a bathroom it'd be wise to at least go at it up against the wall ffs.
I honestly can't recommend this book. The only positive I have about it is the fact that the actual storyline itself is pretty good. However, the way in which it is written is lacking. It takes more than a pretty cover and excessive use of cuss words to make a story a good one.
If you like stories that offer excessive cussing, drug use, and a hero that thinks laying the heroine down on a dirty bathroom floor is acceptable then this one should be right up your alley.
There are some strange happenings, a murder mystery, stalkers and plenty of crazy antics to make you dizzy and never lose interest in this book.
Ends on a huge cliffhanger so I'm glad these books were on sale and I don't have to wait to find out what happens next. NOT for the faint of heart or conservative reader. A wild and no holds barred party!
**** 4 **** "I love you...I hate you" stars
I definitely recommend this book. I suck at writing reviews, dont let that stop you reading this book. its worth every minute you spend on it!
