- "Staying Present for a Boring Task"
- "Sense and Savor Walk"
- "Giving and Receiving Patience"
I've been dealing with minor anxiety over the past few weeks and one of the ways I've tried to combat this is by meditating. This book has helped me enhance my meditative state by being aware of the present moment. It's provided me with a newfound sense of peace and clarity in some trying moments. It's actually quite a powerful read and once you begin applying the techniques to your life, you're going to notice a difference; no question about it.
The different sections in the book include:
- The Mindful Moment
- Regaining Focus and Concentration.
- Cultivating Gratitude and Joy
- Promoting Patience and Compassion
- Dealing with Stress and Worry
- Breaking Bad Habits and Negative Behaviors
- Working with Attachments and Aversions.
- Managing Anger and Hurt
- Supporting Others Who Need Help
- Accepting Aging an Illness
- Coping with Grief and Loss
As you can see, it doesn't simply discuss mindfulness in general; this book covers mindfulness in a number of different situations. Whether you're simply trying to focus, give thanks to the universe, or need help dealing with loss, this book has techniques that you can apply to your life.
When you think about the past, you might feel guilt, regret, or sadness. When you think about the future, you might feel worry, stress, or anxiety. But when you're aware in the present moment, there is nothing to fear, nothing to worry about. There is no past, no future. Only now. It is such a simple technique, yet it can have an incredibly profound impact on your life.
Overall, an excellent read. It has definitely given me a new perspective.
* I received a review copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I wrote 80 thank yous and sent it to my father on his 80th birthday.
It was a nice and new experience.
However, most of the book is meditation session of sitting down and imagining stuff, which i personally dont find effective.
Thats why the two stars.
In particular, author's personal example 'When my dad turned 68, I decided to write him 68 thank-you's ' is an excellent idea, which I've planned to do to my loved ones.
Overall I highly recommend this book for everyone
