As Jazz lovers know; the 1960s was a turning point for American Jazz. Somehow the majority of the major Jazz musicians of that time period either went off into the Experimental or Jazz Fusion. 50 years later the American Jazz musicians are still in the early 1960s but we can turn to the Europeans to see what Jazz IS. I have been collecting European Jazz musicians for years on the ECM label but lately been collecting European Jazz Trumpet players as in Nils Petter Molvaer, Arve Henriksen, & Tomasz Stanko. This will be my 2nd CD of the Russian Jazz Trumpet player Alex Sipiagin, the other being "Destinations Unknown".
Very Interesting method of Jazz; it's like taking J.S. Bach melodies & counter melodies within free form improv. A few Rock like repeated structures that break up in time so that the music doesn't become Rock. The songs have a strong rhythm section with Trumpet & saxophone solos or duplets up front. Good Recording, but lacks any difference from pervious CD.
