It was actually really good. IF you like the motorcycle club atmosphere: crude language, and the open discussion and viewing of erotic activities. I found it was too much for me sometimes, and I’m no prude.
The hero was my kind of hero. But I’ve realized long ago my preference for men is really messed up. Rude, demanding, and straight-up vulgar sometimes.
So, yeah. That’s Horse for ya. In my mind: MAN PERFECTION.
No, but he was really was. Yeah, he says some stupid stuff that will get your inner feminist riled, but he was caring and gentle in the perfect ways.
I’ll be honest: I hate the MC club lifestyle. I rarely read books in this subgenre because of it. The sl*t-shaming, casual use of women like toys, and the entire outlook that women are possessions, irks me like no other. The latter is less of a problem for me, because hey, we all like a possessive man even if we won’t admit it.
But even though this life is consensual for even the club women, the atmosphere is exhausting and unfulfilling to me. No woman out there is all right with being a sexual object for an entire motorcycle club and you will never convince me otherwise. So in these stories, I’m always put off by the relationships portrayed.
Reaper's Property represented all those stomach-nauseating relationships that I don’t enjoy to read about in my free time. But. The relationship between the H and h was engrossing, fascinating, and written pretty darn well.
This was an interesting storyline that wasn’t predictable. The heroine was refreshing, and I honestly had no idea what she would do. Not because of poor character development, but because she had a layered, impulsive personality. She could be a little weak sometimes, but somehow it just worked for me. Apparently I’m in a masochistic mood lately. Because I loved when the hero would boss her around and she’d listen. A little messed up, but eh, crap happens.
Twenty-five year old Marie left her husband when he hit her and moved into her brother’s trailer. It doesn’t take long until she realizes he’s mixed up with some bad people when a motorcycle club starts coming around.
She forms a friendship with them, and a flirtation with one who went by the name of Horse. It seemed like a normal relationship at first; very normal with movie watching and everything. When Horse offers her a cut to be his “old lady” she refuses, and naturally he doesn’t take well to that.
So when the club finds out her brother is stealing for them, it’s either kill him, or—this is Horse’s idea—to take Marie as a sex slave.
But this doesn’t turn out like a normal sex slave/captor relationship. They knew each other before and Horse makes it known pretty soon on that he wants more from her than sex.
The sex. EROTIC AS HECK. Of which something a grandmother would faint from. But believe it or not, this is something that I think authors really struggle with. It’s either mechanical, uninspiring, or cringe-worthy. But it was done with the perfect amount of description and emotion here to really connect you with these characters. A+ for the sex. And I think I feel the burning flames from Hell for reading it.
I was totally convinced of their relationship. In love with the characters—less in love with the atmosphere of MC club life, but you can’t have everything. The plot was engrossing, but I did find it slowed down toward the end.
Reaper’s Property is a highly erotic romance set in the crude world of a motorcycle club. Engrossing, sometimes cringe-worthy obscenity, but not short of entertainment.
Reaper’s Property is one of those books that sneaks up on you. You don’t realize how great it is until you are hooked. Horse is one heck of an anti-hero, seeing as how he finally ended up getting Marie. I mean the whole gun to her brother’s head thing is an interesting way to start a romance book. Considering this was one of my very first biker books, I didn’t know quite how to take that, but I just couldn’t quit reading.
From the shocker of an opening scene, we go back to the beginning when Horse and Marie meet. Even knowing how things ended up with Jeff with a gun to his head, I laughed my head off at the trailer trash queen scene Marie treated Horse, Picnic and Max too! Then as Horse tries to woo his chosen woman in true biker style and it backfires on him, I found myself growing more and more attached to him despite knowing that it’s all going to turn to kaka.
The plot of this book thickened just as much as the sexual chemistry between Horse and Marie (I did mention he knew how to use it, right?). Her seriously stupid brother stole from the club and to keep him from being killed, Marie makes a deal with the devil. Horse is stuck between a rock and a hard spot—he wants Marie but unless Horse can figure out how to pull this thing out of the ditch when her brother stole from the club he signed his death warrant. There are not many relationships that could survive that.
There is not one thing I can fault with this book. The side characters are interesting and when I first read it, I wanted to know more about all the Reaper’s and their women. It had action, grit, drama, angst, and lots and lots of laughs. Best of all, it had Horse, the biker who lived up to the legend of how he got his road name. A character absolutely worthy of infinite numbers of rereads.

Marie knows nothing about biker life and when her brother gets in trouble and she has to become part of the collateral to save him she gets a crash course in being part of an MC?
Horse wants Marie and now has his chance to make it a reality.
This book is fast pace, action packed, and has a sexy biker who wants what he wants and that's the sweet, innocent, and loyal Marie.
