Ok, I have some problems with this book. There were parts that I thought worked really well, but there were a lot that didn’t, and unfortunately, the negatives kinda ruined it for me.

3 STARS FOR JACK & JENN

'A Reason To Breathe' is the story of thirty-nine year old widow, Jennifer Stewart. When her husband dies, she moves out to Colorado to fulfil a childhood dream of living in the mountains. Her job as a journalist leads her to meet Sheriff Jack Gunnison at a murder scene.
Long-story-short, it’s insta-lust/love, and both the search a whirlwind relationship and the for a serial killer begin.

“Jesus, what are you doing to me?” He whispered.
“Nothing,” I gasped, when his tongue circled my ear.
“Baby, if that’s nothing, you’re gonna kill me when it means something.”

Ok, let’s do this methodically. What did I like?
- I liked Jack.
– I liked the plot twists.
– I liked the steamy sex.
– I liked the idea.

Now, what did I not like?
- I didn’t like the slew of appalling grammatical errors.
– I didn’t like that this was basically a cheap copy of a Kristen Ashley book.
– I didn’t like that Jenn acted 19 instead of 39. And I didn’t like how irresponsible andstupid she was at times.

So, yeh, as I said, I liked Jack. I just have to mention, I loved the surname Gunnison. I don’t know, I just found that really super sexy. So that worked for me.

“If Jack Gunnison were pursuing me, I’d walk slow.”

Jack is totally alpha male. In fact, he’s a little pathetically alpha, in all honesty. Like, Jack and Jenn have known each other for one day and he’s ready to knock out all other men in the town for just looking at her.

I can only give this book 3 stars because the writing was crude and immature. Swearing doesn't offend me but there is far too much cussing and not in a sexy and scintillating way but in a the author lacks a strong vocabulary way. It cheapens and dumbs down the characters. Also, the behavior of the main characters isn't believable as not many 39 year old women talk or think like 20 something year olds, and most sheriffs are capable of forming full and articulate sentences that don't include swear words in response to EVERYTHING.The grammar and punctuation was atrocious; C.P. Smith has no idea how to use commas, semi-colons, or question marks (that one should be a no brainer) which can get tedious for the reader. Writing dialogue is also not a strength of this author. That said, Smith definitely had a story to tell and it was interesting and suspenseful. Smith has a great deal of potential to become a serious suspense writer if she can improve her delivery. I do recommend this book for the story, just bare in mind it's not well written. I really hope she keeps writing as she can weave a story well.

Oh my gosh after this one book the author C.P. Smith has moved to my stalk list. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Once I heard about this book I started watching Amazon to see if 1) a pre-order option would be available or 2) if by some miracle this book would be released early. The second I saw this book I bought it and started reading, and all I can say is that this book is fan freaken tactic, I haven't been this excited about a new book in a while and I haven't been his ecstatic about a new author in what feels like forever. This authors talent is insane and brilliant, I can't wait to see what is next and if I'm honest I'm a little sad to be finished because I feel like everything else for a while will be a let down.

Jenn decided to move to Colorado a place she always dreamed of living, with her daughter at college family all moved away and the death of her husband she knows it's her time now. She married at 18 with a baby on the way and though she loved her husband and adored her daughter Jenn is excited to be moving to her dream as a reported in the mountains. When Jenn finds herself at a murder scene she knows this may be her chance to get away from event reporting and move to something more interesting but she never planned to run into Jack.

Jack has been sheriff for years and has given up hope of ever finding a woman who not only will love him but accept his love for his job so when Jenn barges onto his crime scene he wants nothing to do with her even if she's beautiful and has great legs. But Jack finds out really quickly that Jenn is nothing like the other reports and absolutely nothing like any woman he has ever met and try as he night Jack finds himself not only intrigued but also very interested in his newest citizen.

One of the best alpha male books I've ever read!
Jack and Jenn are unforgettable and this story keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very first page!
Jenn can't help but investigate anything and everything about the case she is following. She's a tough woman and determined and independent. I seriously admire her and love her character!
Jack comes in with a bang and blew my mind. He is the sheriff and boy does he take his job seriously, but there is something about Jenn that sets him off. "Pain in my ass" as he so frequently puts it. He is an alpha that gives as much as he gets, but not in the way that makes you want to punch his lights out. You can feel the way he feels about her and WHY he is so protective and firm with her. That's what I love most about this book. It gave you the alpha hero you want without being over the top annoying. Jack is one of my favorite heroes because... well read the book and you will see. I FREAKING LOVE HIM!
The suspenseful plot only adds to the already intense and steamy love story between Jack and Jenn. And with Jenn being as hardheaded as Jack, well you can imagine what happens when she does what she wants anyway. I loved reading the interactions between these two and I loved how quickly they developed feelings for each other. I'm all for the soul mates!
This story will keep you turning the pages until your heart beats out of your chest. It's a thriller of a read and steamy as ever! I LOVED IT!

5 stars! +++ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

***note: I read this book a while back and have since read every book in the series as it is released. Seriously, you need to start this series because it's AMAZING!! Unforgettable!
