What an intimate look into such a famous family! I loved hearing about how much fun he & his mother had picking on each other! I am still laughing thinking about her climbing out on the roof with the cup of cold water to throw on Franklin's head to wake him up only to he find he had locked the window so she had to crawl backwards all the way around to the other window! Hehe!

I enjoyed this book. To me, one interesting thing was seeing how Billy Graham parented. What at first I saw as passive, and rather spoiling Franklin by frequently getting him out of jams, I see now that he was pretty much doing the best he could with a strong willed boy who looked as if he had no interest in anything substantial and could have definitely gone bad with too strong a bit in his mouth. Rather than over disciplining him, one realizes by the end of the book that Billy was really putting Franklin in God's hands, understanding that prayer has a lot to do with good parenting! It was really inspiring to see how God had a plan for Franklin Graham whether he wanted it or not! And I know that obedient, praying parents had everything to do with the good outcome. I'm sure some will see Franklin's "rebel" side as tame (smoking cigarettes and being a bad student) but I liked reading about how just an average boy came around to a full understanding of the greatness of God and His plan for him. To see how God has so mightily used Franklin Graham as an adult, from the disinterested boy he was, is hopeful for all parents who trust in God. (Jeremiah 29:11)

The book explains both the 'Rebel' and the 'Cause' in the title. It describes Mr. Graham's life from his earliest memory to 1995, the publication date of the book. It presents Mr. Graham as a late-bloomimg but beautiful flower in God's garden. Mr. Graham explains the concept of 'God room' in the book; that is, expect much more than can humanly be done, then allow God room to meet, or more than meet the original expectation. Mr. Graham gives example after example of God filling His God room. The book is five-star. David Carlyle, "Billy Thomas: Forever Fearless."
