I'm normally not a fan of sci-fi romance but once I got into the story, I just couldn't put it down. It read like a western romance for me and I couldn't help but think of it like a cowboy and Indians story with the hero actually being the heroine. I know, it's confusing but to me, it made perfect sense. I love my Star Wars and Star Trek as much as the next person but I just don't read them. I don't like all the world building that ensues and after about 4 chapters I'm done.
Not so with Rebel Run. I loved Mal and her need to forget who she was. I loved how she was a racer in a man's world. It made her more believable in her hiding in plain sight. I also appreciated how the author didn't info dump about the world that she was trying to have us see. We got it in bits and pieces. I let my mind wonder a bit trying to envision it and I thought that was cool.
I felt for Ty. To love someone that could you killed isn't enough but then to realize that the person that you are guarding isn't what they seem. Ty and Mal were a great couple. At times, sappy but in the end perfect for each other. They completed each other regardless of job or class. I look forward to seeing them again.
The action is GREAT in the book. Not too much but enough to make the story flow. It's a fast paced book that I read in 2 sittings. Oh yes, I didn't want to put the book down. The twists, in the end, were totally worth it but I have a feeling that we are so not done with Mal's brother and what happened to him.
Overall, I great sci-fi book that I normally wouldn't have read. Thank you!
I received this book for free from the author, under no obligation to provide a review. This had no influence on my review.
This book is full of action, hot-steamy romance, and adventure. The only flaw I did find was that it was predictable, at times. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this neat little story. A Princess is on her way home, from chilling out on Earth, thinking she's coming home to a warm homecoming. Only to fight for her life and her people. It was pretty interesting. I would recommend it to lovers of Sci-Fi and Romance.
I didn't know what to expect from this author, she appears to be a fairly new author. I enjoyed this book, I think that it's a good premise for a story, I haven't read one similar to this one before. I won't give any spoilers, but I do feel that the story wrapped up a little too cleanly. I was hoping for a better resolution for the story, it all cleaned up a little bit too well for me. I am willing to read the follow up story because I think that there should be a little bit more to this particular story.
