- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2015The Feinstein Report was produced by one of the most flawed processes one can imagine. Can you imagine a Congressional oversight investigation that doesn't interview those involved? I can't - yet we are supposed to take Feinstein's report as credible.
The essays are a superb takedown featuring the flaws in the Feinstein report. Furthermore, when Feinstein's report is contradicted by the memoirs of President Bush regarding whether he was briefed on these procedures, one has to give the arguments in the essays in this book - as well as the CIA response and the views of the minority members of the Senate Intelligence Committee - serious consideration.
The Naval Institute Press has done the American public a service by publishing this book, and allowing the essay authors a chance to tell their side of the story - a side that Dianne Feinstein did NOT want to hear.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2016Interesting enough, although I'm not sure how accurate it is. Senator Feinstein (well, her staff, more likely) has produced a lengthy, point-by-point rebuttal of this work, well worth a read regardless of your particular view. [...]
If someone can counter Feinstein's arguments, maybe I'll be convinced. Other than this book, the main dissents are the CIA's June 2013 response and the Senate committee's minority report. For the bet-argued opposing viewpoint, I would probably recommend the minority report. But, in all, the attacks on the SSCI study have come off as rather weak to me.
