I enjoyed the relationship of the two main characters but most especially I liked how honor, love and respect for others, especially parents and grandparents, were an integral part of the story. And by showing love and respect to those who least seem to need it can change their lives.
Yes, all this in a novella.
A well written story of hope, faith, love and understanding. Aimee Curran is working is working in the dietary area of San Diego Hope rehab. She has entered the Vegan Valentine Bake Off hoping to win the prize of full tuition to culinary school.
Having lost her mother at a young age, she still feels her mother's presence when she is cooking the food she used to watch and help her mother cook.
Lucas Marchal, a CSI investigator is a regular at the rehab facility. Watching his grandmother slowly give up on life.
When these two meet, it becomes clear that whatever they had planned, it's all in God's hands now. Will Aimee become a famous chef? Will Lucas lose his grandmother? You must read it to find out!
A well written novella that left me with a smile on my face as well as some soul searching of my own.
The writing is charming and engaging. The story is short, but there's plenty of things going on to keep readers involved. I found it easy to connect to the characters and I wanted to see things work out for them. There's a hint of "religious" influence at work here, but certainly nothing over the top or even preachy.
This is a nice, clean novella, that can easily be enjoyed in one sitting. I'd definitely read more books by this author!
Lucas Marchal is an evidence tech or basically a CSI team member. He is very handsome, kind and also concerned for his grandmothers health. Having just lost his grandfather months before he is pushing for her to get better.
This was a light hearted quick and easy read. It was a very sweet and caring romantic novella, that had a great message. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I have always loved Candace Calvert’s novels, but I wasn’t too sure of this novella when I started reading. About a third of the way through, however, it got really good and became better and better. If you’re looking for an uplifting, feel-good read, this is it.
