Though the plotline was obvious before the characters even met, it's still exciting to read. I like the chemistry between Hudson and Chloe, an obvious attraction but they're still getting to know each other. There's curiosity and passion there and the author did a good job of keeping them interesting without falling into a lot of the cliches that would have been easy to write. She's a protestor but she's open minded and not angry at him for being a fighter right off the bat. He's not the sterotypical bad boy fighter type, he's kind and sweet to her and so far has stayed that way. There were a lot of ways this could have gone wrong but the writer did an excellent job making it realistic and not cliched.
We jump pretty quickly into the action of the book, while the characters are still getting to know each other so it could go any way. I find that interaction with the other characters is pretty limited and seems to be a little bit forced, the conversations are a little corny compared to those between Hudson and Chloe themselves.
While I LOVE that the book takes place in the same world as the other MMA books by JJ Knight, I do think there might be too much background given, info that's not pertinent to this story and kind of just bogs it down at the beginning, I hate slogging through all that to get to what's really going on. We could have recieved all the same info just spread out throughout the book.
