About the Author
Selena Montgomery grew up in Southern Mississippi, with two incredible parents and five fascinating siblings. She is a graduate of Spelman College, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and Yale Law School. She draws upon her interest in and experiences with social and economic policy, politics, and creative writing to fuel her novels. As her alter ego, Stacey Abrams, she is the former Georgia House Minority leader – the first African American to lead in the House of Representatives. She is currently running for Governor in the state of Georgia.

The story is set in middle Georgia, in a small town about 3 hours south of Atlanta. Since I spent nearly forty years living in Atlanta, I was also impressed with the author's "sense of place and time". Indeed, another discovery as I began reading the aforementioned "Minority Leader" was that Stacey Abrams had actually attended Avondale High School in DeKalb County, Georgia - which was my place of employment during most of my time in Atlanta. Thus I can vouch for the authenticity with which "Reckless" is composed.
The story line is intricate and the characters vivid and believable. The story contains a powerful eroticism which is significant in the plot but does not overpower it. Although the book is obviously the first of at least a diptych (a factor which I sometimes resent, not wanting to be "hooked" into a series unaware) I will admit that this is well-done. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to many more encounters with this author.
One of the best features of my Kindle is that I can, with a quick glance, determine how many pages remain, and usually I keep checking, eager to get to the end so I can proceed to my next pre-selected book. In the case of Reckless, I kept checking in the hopes that I wouldn't reach the last page. Endings are for funerals. Your characters live on in the hearts and psyches of your readers. I can't wait for my husband to start reading Reckless. I write, but he's the best literary critic I know.
You can't pigeonhole your books as Romance or Suspense. How about Life? Reckless is a tale about multidimensional characters caught up in multidimensional situations. Love does conquer, thank heavens. I use that as an explanation for my own, still going strong 56-year marriage that I can only describe with one word and it's not work...it's sex.
I'm on a Selena Montgomery/Stacey Abrams journey. Join me for some fun and experience some good writing.
Reckless was a good read, with well-developed characters and a nice amount of heat. The author and I seem to have similar taste in male characters. :) I'm looking forward to more from both Selena Montgomery and Stacey Abrams!
Good is an understatement--this book is fantastic! Gorgeous sentences, beautiful scene setting, and fantastic characters make Reckless a page-turning delight. As the kids say, Montgomery/Abrams put her foot in it.
