From the Author
In 2013, School Library Journal asked families: How many parents read bedtime stories to their kids? According to the poll, about "two-thirds of parents don't read to their kids every night" (Bayliss, 2013).
Bedtime stories were a huge part of my elementary years. I loved it when my parents would come and read me a story before I drifted off to sleep. Those times not only sparked my imagination, but gave me valuable face time with my parents.
The heart behind Reckless was to give parents, grandparents, guardians, and foster parents the opportunity to connect with their kids through a fun adventure, Bible stories, challenging devotionals on kid level, and discussion questions that can be used throughout the day to continue the conversation.
I pray that this book will not only give you the chance to have fun with your kids, but also to give you the opportunity to explore your faith in Jesus together. Have fun and enjoy this new way of doing family devotions.

Claire discovers a note stuck to the doorjamb with a silver sword. The message? "If ye ever want to find your Grandpa again, bring ye the Lava Map to Volcano Island. Ye have three days to make it here. Signed, Yours Untruly, Captain Howard Thornheart." Then another surprise as a talking bird, an Australian Magpie named Mags by Claire, appears to help the children. Mags informs the children that Princess Mohalani is imprisoned on Volcano Island. The only way to release her is to find the six keys which are each located on different islands. Captain Thornheart has a monster on each island. Can the children defeat each monster and retrieve the needed keys?
Determined to help, Claire, Ollie and Mags set off in their boat with pirates in pursuit. The adventure is thrilling, suspenseful and fast paced. It also has a deep spiritual thread running through it. The children pray for help and share the love of Jesus with the people they meet.
IMPORTANT to note that this is fiction. Suspend all reality as you read this fantasy and ENJOY! Highly recommended from our family to yours!
More than just a fantastic story, one of the best I've read to the kids, this book also contains 7 Bible stories and 7 devotions at the end so extra bonus. There is also Chapter Discussion. Actual story ends at 80% on the Kindle. We are never provided the ages of the children nor told why they came to live with Grandpa but that doesn't matter. I purchased this book for my Kindle. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
