Some years have passed since the terrible events that made Bobby Mac lose his brother Jax happened, and he is living a quite happy life with his family. However, those happiness and peace won't last. Evil is always around, creating chaos, and provoking unexpected things to happen. When some weird murders start happening in the little town where Bobby Mac lives, he discovers soon that the circumstances are not normal. There are paranormal elements and he will know that everything is connected to that great evil that was trying to control the world on the last time they met. Bobby Mac's past is back to torment him, and surprises will make him wonder about the good and evil in the world.
If you like a thriller with paranormal touches and a TRULY unexpected twist at the end, this is the book for you. However, have in mind that this is the third book in a series, so most things won't make sense to you if you read it as a stand-alone novel, because it's not.
If I have to criticise something, it would be that there are parts that should have been developed further, since at times the events seemed rushed, but it's not something that spoils the reading. And the ending was a bit confusing for me.
Overall, it's a very recommendable book, quite suitable for a quick read while on the plane heading to your vacation.
Buy this one. Go buy the other two if you don't already own them. Here's the link to them:
You won't regret it. These books are damned good.
I really hate to see this series end. From the beginning, you get the chills with this book. You (THINK) you know what is going to happen, and all of the sudden WHAMMO! Off on the bunny trail we go. Man, I thought I had your storyline figured out early on, and of course, that dang bunny trail keeps popping up, taking me here, then there. Couldn't figure it out, even when I thought I had. Such a cool, wild ride.
Bobby Mac is one of my favorite characters in the whole world. The kind of guy I wish I could be. Full of adventure, insight, courage, everything. But do I wish his kind of adventures would happen to me? Not on your life.
You have to pick up book one to really appreciate this series. Buy all three, sit back and take the weekend to read read read... and you will NOT be disappointed. Especially the very end.. cool man. Very cool.
Someday Mr. Guthrie, I'd like to buy you cup of coffee, and meet the person who can write like you do. I bet you're an interesting guy. Thanks for the series, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
An avid fan...
Descriptive style of Writing puts you there regardless if you want to be or not. This is some kind of magic to hold one into the pages and the Souls of the Characters of Robs own inventive mind.. Dang he is good, having nightmares and Day Mares as i Write.. I am not going to give anything away about the Story, only that THIS is not the kind of story I normally read, but it held onto me tell i finished it.
