I really enjoyed the character development of these characters. This is the first book I've read in the series. Made it a bit hard to jump in the middle consider the characters were already developed. However, they were so well do it was well easy to see their maturity and see who they were deep down to their heart and soul. The fight scenes were very well written in this book. Plus I love magic and that was quite enjoyable. I loved reading those scenes. The thing I didn't enjoy so much was the obvious edit errors. I'm not a big fan of battle preparations, however, if you are, I would think you would enjoy that. This author seems to do that well and accurately. The sea battles were confusing to me as well, however the on deck hand to hand was great!
Overall I liked the book and I think it is well worth reading. However, unlike me, I think you should start the series from the beginning to get the whole picture. I think it would make this book even better and even more exciting!
Because Amazon Requires It: I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.
Only thing I didn't like was that there was no mention of what Kealin did after the end of the half elf Chronicles. Also, I felt Sviska was made to look pretty powerless though that might be to continue his journey.
Overall, an amazing series.
