In this story, we are introduced to Ivy who comes to Havenwood Falls to escape her parents as she did not condone the way her parents were earning a living. It takes a lot of guts for someone, especially when you are only 18, to completely start over but that is exactly what Ivy did.
As she was escaping her parents, Ivy not even really knowing how, was lead right into the streets of Havenwood Falls. It’s almost immediately that she meets another main character, Justus. Justus seems like a carefree guy with a bad reputation because he is not very popular with the town folk. However, even though he is given grief, Ivy still seems to stick by him and senses that there is good in him. We come to find out how good of a person he really is.
What I really liked about this book is that we not only navigate Ivy’s path to self discovery, but also Justus’. With the support and encouragement of each other, they both make decisions that effect the other’s future. I really like that after the sacrifice Justus made (don’t want to give away any spoilers!), the whole court rallied around him and his character goes in a completely different direction than we are introduced in the beginning of the story. The story ended perfectly. This was a great read and addition to Havenwood Falls!
You see the strength that Justus showed with his family and that Ivy showed with hers and what it needed to be done. I truly loved this story. Only issue was I didn't see why it was involved with the High collection because they were both out of school.
