About the Author
Rev. J. Ronald Knott is a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville who is now serving as the founding director of the Saint Meinrad School of Theology INSTITUTE FOR PRIESTS AND PRESBYTERATES. Funded by the Lilly Foundation in 2005, this continuing formation institute is focusing initially on the needs of those ordained five years or less and on strengthening their diocesan presbyterates. As the Institute grows and develops, it will broaden to include priests from all age groups. Father Knott is the author of Intentional Presbyterates: Claiming Our Common Sense of Purpose, a book about preparing seminarians to enter presbyterates and about how priests can mentor them into their presbyterates after ordination. This book is being used in several presbyteral discussions around the country. His book, From Seminarian to Diocesan Priest: Managing a Successful Transition, is about helping new priests take personal responsibility for making a good transition out of the seminary and into parish ministry. This book is also being used by several seminaries and vocation directors in this and other countries around the world. Father Knott has served his diocese as a home missionary, country pastor, cathedral rector and vocation director. Besides being the director of the Institute for Priests and Presbyterates, he is a weekend campus minister at Bellarmine University in Louisville and writes a weekly column for the diocesan newspaper, The Record. Father Knott has published three collections of homilies (An Encouraging Word, One Heart at a Time and Sunday Nights) and five collections of his weekly columns (For The Record I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X). He has published articles in America, Church, Seminary Journal, The Priest and The Pastoral Review (London). Father Knott has preached many parish missions, priest and deacon retreats, and days of recollection.
