Editorial Reviews

"Aarons scores with RED CARD. I loved the feel of this book. It screamed sex and yet dealt with some serious topics that I wasn't quite expecting. Killian will do you in with his cheeky quips and cocky...demeanor. Get ready to ignore your family and find a new book boyfriend!" -Obsessed With Myshelf

"I found this book to be very accurate with the verbiage and workings of British football! Loved the feels, loved the characters, loved the writing style and flow." -The Sassy Bookista

"Red Card is a brilliant love story, it has enough heartbreak, drama, fun, sex, celebrity and suspicions to have you sitting up 'til the wee hours reading. It's clever, inventive and will have your emotions going up and down more times than an elevator at Harrods, and it offers up one of the best, most romantic endings. *sigh*" -Book Babe Trio

What an excellent, funny, romantic and sexy read Carrie Aarons gives us with Red Card. I'm always up for a good sports romance and this absolutely fits the bill." -Renee Entress's Book Blog

"An amazing read that you will pick up over and over again." -The Book Fairy Reviews

ARC received in exchange for an honest review...

Determined to start anew, Leah sets her sights on a dream job opportunity in London. A new city with new faces is the perfect starting point to forgetting about her heartbreak. However from the moment she steps off the plane it seems that she is in for an adventure like no other. Thrust into her first on the job challenge she is forced to go toe to toe with the bad boy of football himself, Killian Ramsey.
The attraction is immediate but Killian has ghosts of his own that has his defenses (and offense) going at all times. He's a jerk, though it stems from a very tragic source, and he takes it out on anyone who crosses him.
Because of Killian's hard shell I found it harder to connect with him though I both understood his issues and empathized with his character. I just needed him to be a bit softer so that I could understand Leah's draw to him so early on. I do whole heartedly admit that his character absolutely won me over up and throughout that last chunk of book, I feel that I would have enjoyed it a bit more if we got to see more of the evolution of hard edged Killian to the soft hearted one, or at least him finding the balance between the two.
I liked the point that Leah's character found her voice and stood up for herself when pushed too hard by Killian and that's what kept me engaged in her character the most. She'd had learned hard lessons in her previous relationship and she wasn't going to be a shrinking violet for Killian's sake. Two thumbs for that Leah!

All in all I enjoyed the read.

I got to 50% and just had to stop. I found the writing a little bit chaotic, like it was from someone with English as a second language. I found the characters ridiculous and terribly unbelievable. The roommates were too cliched. And the sex. My lord it was all dripping pu$&y and stiff rod and so random and hot and cold and none of it made sense. This girl goes to London for this job and then for a week she just doesn't show up? How? Like I said before it felt schizophrenic. Obviously from my ramblings this just didn't work for me.

Hot sexy read right here!! Not only was the pace and writing style flowed together, but it was fun and certainly kept your attention!

Leah Watson smart, beautiful and a woman that’s just got her heart broke by her five year boyfriend. To help mend her heart she gets on a plane to the US and while she’s up in the air she has a lot of time to reflect on those past five years. Leah doesn’t like that she’s been living her life around her boyfriend instead of having a life for herself. As her plane starts to land she plans to set herself on a path to find herself.

She has a PR internship in London, England which she’s ready to start, but no sooner does she meet a handsome man who would seem charming if he didn’t have a short-temper and all around being an ass. Killian Ramsey. Who she’s now assigned to handle.

Killian Ramsey is well known and a football player with a terrible bad boy personal which is backed up in the media and by anyone.

Will Leah be able to find her footing or will she end up exactly where she was before?

I love that this book was about self growth because you defiantly saw Leah struggling to find herself after being with her boyfriend. Not only is she trying to handle her own life she’s now in charge of Killian who’s not making it easy one bit. Killian..*sigh* I love that name, but what I love even more was the he was a complex character because I loved learning more of why he acted certain ways. But when hurtful words were thrown out I couldn’t help, but want to knock him out.

Carrie Aaron did an amazing job not only bring the characters out and really showing growth for both of them I loved that though everything I was still rooting for them and MAN the sex was classy, dirty and totally kicked up 100 degrees! I look forward to reading more of her stories.

Highly recommend, but beware the bad boy will bring out some rage.

***I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

I LOVE soccer. It's my favorite sport to watch. Every 4 years when the World Cup comes around it is like Christmas for a month. So I love when an author writes a book about soccer players. But then make that soccer player a broody Alpha with a hot British accent and I am sold.

Leah is starting over. She thought the she would be spending the rest of her life as the wife of a pro (American) football player, but that is not the case. After being dumped, she hops on a place to London where she will spend the semester working for celebrity PR firm. Within minutes of arriving she is thrust into a movie premiere where she becomes Killian's handler. Talk about being thrown into the deep end of a shark infested pool.

Killian Ramsey is good looking and an amazing football (soccer) player, but he is also a big jerk. When he meets Leah, he immediately pisses her off and turns her on without even trying. The guy is that good. He is intrigued by Leah so he makes sure that she will spend her internship exclusively working for him. I like to call that a power play. Leah didn't have a choice and while I knew that she would be able to handle herself, I also knew that it was going to be a very interesting ride.

Killian finds Leah to be quite refreshing. She is basically the opposite of every woman he has ever been involved with and at first he thinks that her personality is an act. It doesn't take long for him to discover that isn't the case and that makes him want her even more. Professionally the two of them work pretty well together. At first Leah is a bit out of her league, but she adapts very quickly and falls into the role quite easily.
