UPDATE: I would be remiss if I did not update this review and downgrade to 1 star. Here's why: Yes the dogs do love them, BUT...
My Labs chewed on them happily for a 2 days, then two of the three started getting sick and vomiting all over the house. Without being too graphic, an examination of what we were cleaning up revealed that it was all "bone" fragments, many of which were sharp shards of the whatever substance comprised these "bones." I took all 3 of the "bones" and threw them in the trash. The sickness ceased soon thereafter. That is conclusive enough for me. I won't be buying any more of these for my girls.
*****UPDATE January 2015 ******
I have continued to purchase these a couple of times a year for my dogs since 2012 with no problems. My pack of heathens love these and I love that I refill them with plain peanut butter as needed.
UpDate: He got a hold of it some more before it made it to the trash. He chewed a large piece of the bone off. It was extremely sharp. Almost like a dagger. This product is not safe. It should be taken off the market!!!!
Makes me happy that these are made in the USA. I think these are great. Try them out for your pup!
Others have commented that they refill the peanut butter to use it - I think that this is a good idea.
I went some time without refilling the peanut butter and it looks like the same. It kind of reminds me of how in the documentary Supersize Me the McDonalds french fry never shows any signs of decomposing.
