I think I got a defective unit....The ESC would glitch and cause the motor to cog occasionally, regardless of throttle input. It didn't do it often, but I wasn't satisfied. Also, Redcat uses cheap servos on their 1:5 scale models too..... The servo on this car would not center up, and no, it doesn't have a servo saver set up.
Now, I have worked with Redcat before regarding issues like this, and I'm sure if they knew what the problem was, they would've sent me a replacement part. But, I'm not sure what the problem is, and I just feel that the car will be a lemon unless I completely swap out all the electronics for better quality units, and I don't want to do that, so this car is getting sent back.
Moving on to the car itself....While this car is HUGE, it is still very low slung, so rough terrain is out of the question, the car CAN drive over rough terrain, but it is unpleasant and annoying. It's suspension is set up with thin shock oil, so the suspension is mushy, which hinders this car's performance on road.
All in all....I would say don't get this vehicle unless you have an acre or more of flat, tame land. As I said, I'm sure the car I got is just one faulty unit out of thousands or millions of good ones. Parts support will be very limited, so unless you're an advanced RC enthusiast with, again, a LOT of tame land, don't get this.
I hate to beat a dead horse in the RC review world, but THIS IS NOT A TOY!! This car is HUGE, and it is HEAVY and cumbersome to carry around. It probably does up to 40 mph out of the box, and something this heavy, at that speed....would be lethal if it were to hit someone. So if you're a parent wanting to get a huge car for your kid(s), AVOID this vehicle.
