This is one hot mafia book so you know it's going to be filled with danger, mystery, darkness, hot men and even hotter sex. Be warned, the evil that is Royal Diamond is more twisted than you can imagine.
Roan didn't expect to fall for his job, Alina. He was just supposed to try to lure in Royal. Nothing can stop the chemistry between Roan and Alina. He made her forget why she left her family to become a pediatrician and fall for someone who was in the lifestyle she hated. Your heart will break when you find out just how evil Royal was and what he did to Alina and the evil he continues to do. Your heart will heal with the love and fierce protectiveness Roan has for her. Get ready, because they are in for the fight of their life.
The Redemption of Roan was a 5 star read for me!
>I am an independent reviewer. This is the second book in the Syndicate Series and ends in an HEA for the main couple. Roan was introduced under the nickname of Manny in book one. He protected Calla from afar for the 6 years she was away from Cain. His job being over, he is now learning the ropes to take over the mob for his father. He wants to target another mob group by going after the mob boss’ only daughter, Alina. Of course, Roan and Alina fall for each other. The major twist in this story is the emergence of Roan’s brother, Royal as the ultimate bad guy.
>This story may have even more violence than the first book. Royal is the worst bad guy I’ve read about in a long time. I found it hard to believe that Alina never needed therapy. Revisiting Calla and Cain was fun, especially with a pregnancy.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. I connected with Roan and Alina much more than with Cain and Calla. This story, while violent, was a lot more romantic.
This is the second book in the series; and while you really don't have to have read book one Wrath of Cain, you'll understand a lot more about what's happening if you have.
This is Roan's and Alina's story. Roan initially goes after Alina because she is his brother Royal's ex-girlfriend. Roan thinks that by using Alina, he can force Royal out of hiding. Except the more he watches Alina and the more he learns about her, the more he falls for her. It's no longer about using her, it's about getting to know her.
Alina was hurt by Royal in a way no woman deserves. She's hidden it from her family and friends for the last ten years. She knows Roan is interested in her, but for good reason, she's scared of being hurt again. Finally she gives in and agrees to a date. They have an amazing time and start a sweet romance. They both know it's only a matter of time before Royal shows up to try and kill Roan again and to hurt Alina.
I liked both Roan and Alina and I enjoyed getting both of their POVs. A few times, each of their inner dialogues got a little wordy which distracted from the scene, but it wasn't too bad. Roan is protective and cares deeply for Alina, and she develops the same feelings for him quickly as well. We get to see Cain and Calla again which was nice.
The ending sets up the next book being about Deidre and Beamer. I'm hoping she has one heck of an excuse for that last scene and the secrecy, otherwise I'm not sure how I'll feel about their story. That's one of those big no/nos for me that I don't care for in storylines. But we'll see.
There are a number of typos throughout, but nothing that took away from the story.
This book is ... hot, sexy, mysterious, dangerous, suspenseful and full of surprises.
One never sets out to find love but when you do it consumes you and you will stop at nothing to protect the one you love. It doesn't matter who stands in your way, no one is safe not even family!
I LOVE MAFIA books and Kathy Coopmans has created a world that the reader can get lost in.
patiently awaiting the next installment.
