I made a 41 mile contact with it and a Radioddity CS-47 cb radio. It does work and people hear me very well, shockingly well actually but for some reason this antenna is noisy on my end. I was warned about this from some but thought maybe it was just them. Maybe it's just me and them at this point. I will work with some ideas to try and quiet the noise down.

Wow. Great antenna! Got it up and talking skip same day. 4 Watt Cobra 29, D-104 Mobile mic, 30 amp converter. Best thing about is it the ONLY antenna, base or mobile able to achieve an SWR below 1.0!

I do not have an optimal mounting location for an antenna. I live in a 5th floor apartment with a juliete balcony. I mounted the Proton on my balcony railing. The antenna is only one foot from the building's exterior wall. Only the top section of the antenna clears the roofline. I painted the antenna to match the exterior of the building. I am impressed with the performance. My swr reading on a Diawa meter is 1.3 across the 11 meter band. Considering where it is mounting I think that is impressive! I get great signal reports from every contact I make. I have 18 feet of coax and my rig is an RCI 2970N3 with a 50 amp power supply.
To sum it up, I couldn't be happier with the antenna!

Good quality 1/2 wave antenna. Has over 4 mHz of bandwidth over the range of the top & bottom settings of the tuning ring. Highest tunable resonant frequency was 27.748 mHz but has enough bandwidth to work the 10M band. A good CB antenna that doesn't need radials.

Purchased this antenna locally for $60 at our local Ham radio shop thats been there 60 years. It was all he had in stock besides the 4 footer K40 base antennas that barely work... (dummy loads really)

I opened the box, and while the fiberglass and ferrules seem to be similar to Antron/Imax/Solarcon quality, the moment you start screwing it together youll realise that not much care is taken epoxying the ferrules on. not ONE single connection was straight, the antenna looks horrific, each section shoots off in a different direction by a couple degrees, - with the top one wayyyyyyy off by at least 5 degrees. The ferrules make it look crazy, im almost embarrassed to have this flying 60 feet in the air.

BUT: it works. And it works well. From an Antron 99 that was shedding fiberglass like a house cat in springtime - 4 years old and the antron is trash, zero gelcoat/clear left. looks fuzzy and hairy, so it was just falling apart. It worked, but not well.

The ProComm PT99 upped RX and TX signals 4-6 DB in the 27/28 mhz band. It doesnt seem to have dragged in the noise like the Imax 2000 did *(i loved that antenna but only on my IC746 ProII) The PT99 seems to be on par with the Imax, and is well above the A-99, and it seems 1.1 match and a "quiet" antenna, no pops bangs and buzzes with it so far. My IC756 Pro reports SWR 1.1-1 or less from 26.200 to 28.500 and wont even fire the tuner up on TX. it recieves well out of band, but i have a couple G5RV's of different lengths for serious SWL.

So if you dont mind paying double local prices here, find one on WalMart or elsewhere for much less. Expect it to look haphazard and cheap, but also expect it does better than most antennas that cost two to three times its cost.

Ive been down all the bands with the AR/Ringo/ aluminum antennas, and the last ARX 2B i had lasted a week. NY gets those 70+mph negative 20 degree wind gusts that destroy aluminum antennas and the ice on gamma matches freaks any IQ/IC radio right out with ice buildup and hail.

I will say even though the chinese made antenna has a crazy look, the ferrules seem tight, not a single lock washer fit any section, the mast clamps were present but missing all the nuts, washers etc.

Its on 40 feet of tower with 24 feet of Fence rail and Guyed support.

Im hoping itll hold up in the winter. Every Imax ive ever owned has had the dreaded ice bend where they load up with ice and the top section flops over, breaking the ferrule and dropping the top section off.

Overall 4 of 5 stars because it works well. The Chinese quality control is non existent.

I purchased this exact antenna from a local area cb radio shop. Upon assembling the antenna I soon realized that number 1. This antenna was poorly manufactured. I threaded the sections together and for the exception of the the top threaded whip that the threads are substandard. They don't fit together tightly. When assembled the sections still had a little play. I was forced to tack weld the sections together to keep it snug. Number 2. This antenna is made outside the country and brought back for sale here. I have that INFORMATION from a very reliable source

I didn't know anything about this product, but I wanted to find out. I'm glad to have purchased the antenna. The SWR were pre set for mid channel 11 meter band [CB], and were as flat as possible. Great antenna, and I would purchase it again if needed.
