i was very happy with the Redragon until i used it for a week. my thumb started really bothering me and it took me that long to figure out it the mouse could be crippling. it's an ergonomic nightmare. i am now using a Utech Venus, (since i thankfully can't go back to the old Razor Naga.) ... the button reassignments and macros are similar in all of these. the Redragon and the Utech are almost exactly the same except for the shape of the mouse. i can't get the escape key assigned in either of them. as far as my current recommendation: Corsair Scimitar. but i can't be sure since it doesn't work on my win7 installation. i wasn't able to get dot Net 4.5 installed. that's just me, but the Corsair seems to have a much classier ergonomic brainstorm. you can adjust the button pad with a micro hex screwdriver. so i will try it again the next time i reinstall win7. (the only other wired contender with a full button pad is Logitech G600, but i haven't tried it yet). i am happy with the [most competitively priced] Utech Venus for now and highly recommend it over Redragon and Razor.

2. goto 'download' page option on top
3. choose 'mouse' under 'drivers and manuals'
3. M901-W-2 is at the end of the 3rd page
4. download the driver
5. run the install program for the driver
6. on the left side choose 'customize'
7. under the mouse picture in the middle choose the 'front' or 'side' button set you want to reprogram
8. highlight a button number 1-12 or 1-7
9. to change side button 5 from 5 to L, on pull-down menu under the row of buttons choose "single key" under the menu option "advance"
10. put the cursor in the edit field below, which would have the default "5" in it, and type the new key.
11. to save your changes takes three steps, first press 'stop' under and to the right of the new key edit field
12. then press 'apply' which is under stop
13. then choose 'save' profile, which is the fourth icon from the upper left under the dragon logo
14. to do a combo key like "ctrl-L" - choose "combo key" from the "advance" pull down menu choice, type in the combo key and save with the same three steps
you can reassign the dpi and light buttons in this driver app so you can reprogram them if you don't need it or make more than one profile. i haven't been able to figure out how to make a macro, or how to program the escape key or one for double clicks, but hey, I've only been working on this all morning. there really is no support for this at all, past the driver. on the other hand it is so much better than Razer naga. i have bought at least eleven (on amazon) of the razer and i put up with all their crap because i was too stupid to learn something else. when i say i bought at least eleven, i mean that they don't last too long, usually 3 to 6 months. and they start to go bad pretty quickly. they are expensive at almost three times the price of redragon. i had to give up razer because the last one i bought would not install on windows 7 and tech support gave up. they refused to set it themselves and refused any help for the mouse i couldn't use because they didn't support it. they said that i bought it on amazon and so it wasn't covered by any guarantee or support. in summary, Razer makes a more expensive, short lived, unsupported and nasty mouse. so i bit the bullet and spent a few hours figuring how to use this chinese choice instead.
i like the thumb and ring finger support on redragon, but the texture is too smooth for sweat or moist hands. good weight. i don't like the button slant on the side panel, but i may get used to it, its hard to press the 4,5,6 row, but i made them the least used. i like the white color. the wheel seems smooth and likely to last longer. all in all, i am very happy with the mouse and the low price, and especially happy to be finally rid of Razer. i should have done this a long time ago. btw, i have also purchased as programmable contenders Utech, Logitech and Corsair. so in conclusion, i am very happy with my new mouse, one day I'll figure out how to make macros and maybe even escape or double click. and maybe there will be peace on earth.
(razer was so bad, i had to buy TypeItIn to cope during the transition, and its good to have now also... it was easy to create macros in)
i recommend the Redragon M901-W-2 mouse for 19 programmable buttons
December 11 Addition:
i am proud to say i figured out how to program double click, and i have attached a screengrab of the app configured to program a double click:
under the dropdown menu with 'advance' choose 'fire key'
change times from 3 to 2, and leave the default 'left' mouse key checked
click on 'apply' and then 'save' like above and you're set
i still can't do an escape or a macro, but hey, its only been a couple of days
and now that i have used the mouse for a while, i still think it is the best on the market, but the keypad should be more to the front of the mouse. the 10,11,12 row is very crampy. i am only average man [5'8"] size.

The Design:
The design feels great, for those who are right handed and have medium to large hands that is. I have had a few others hold it and they also agreed it feels great, although those with smaller hands had to adjust there positioning to make it work right and even than couldn't get the bottom row buttons, so if you're a small handed person beware. Nonetheless, it felt great holding, with the nice groove over making your thumb rest on the top 2 rows of the side buttons, while you can easily slide or use your thumbs joint like I do, to press the lower section. The buttons themselves are relatively easy to push, but not so easy that you will press them when you don't mean to. It has a nice grip feel to it, that's also relaxing and has yes to cause cramping in my hands after 4 hours of gameplay. The texture of the material is also nice, I was expecting a glossy like finish from how the picture looks with the glare, but instead I was met with a light sand paper like feel, imagine like 400 grit sand paper. It wasn't over intrusive as in to make you notice it, but it wasn't faded that it would be completely missed. It give's it a nice gripping for when things get heavy in the game, but is soft to the touch for the light internet browsing. So far this texture has yet to fade or show wear which is great. Than there's the all important right and left clickers, they are one with the shell of the rest of the mouse, excluding the scroll wheel, and click lightly but nicely. My only concern is that I may one day end up clicking on it to hard and repeatedly that they might break, the Steam Summer Sale Game gave me this concern so much I downloaded an auto clicker just to be safe. Perhaps I'm just to overly cautious. Carrying on. There's the scroll wheel and the DPI + and - buttons. The scroll wheel is ripped and feels nice, made of rubber, and is quick to scroll with, it lacks the left/right clicking most gaming mouses have these days but that doesn't really bother me. The DPI button's are nice and out of the way, in a concave like wall around them so you don't end up clicking them when you don't need too. Which brings me to another point, the extra red button you see on the left is used to switch profiles, i'll get to more on those in a bit, which I find myself sometimes to end up sliding over it and clicking it switching through. Maybe it's just me though, the designers did try and elevate it up some as to keep you aware of where it is. There's also a nice groove on the right side of the mouse to relax you ring finger on, which adds to the comfortably of it all. Lastly the lights are pretty, there's a nice breathing effect, with varrying speeds, and completely always on, or just an off selection if you're not a fan.
The Software
The mouse comes with a disc with all the software and drivers. If you don't have a disc drive like me fear not! Just head over to there website and download it all from there, plugging in the mouse will get you the drivers, or just use of the basic drivers so you can accomplish such a step. The Software is easy to install with no hassle, and once it's done you can add it to your desktop or not whatever. I did because I like to customize the settings every so often and want to keep it right at the tip of my finger. The Software use is pretty straight forward, the mouse comes with 5 profiles, each of which can be set to a different playstyle, for example I have profile set for CoD and other FPS games, while I have another set up for The Old Republic and other MMO's, and even one set up for internet browsing because why not? Starting from the main screen you can adjust the button assignments, and by that I mean everything that's clickable can be changed. You want your right click to be linked to Shift? Sure you can do that. You can add shortcuts, hot keys, single keys, make it lock your PC or disable a button completely, to any of the buttons. It's very nice to have all this control, and it makes having all these options pretty neat. Can change the acceleration and poll rate here also which is nice, maybe on profile one you want to be able to turn quickly in an FPS so you increase it all to the max, but profile 2 you got a MMO that you don't want to turn so fast when you move just an inch. Second screen allows you to adjust the DPI of all 5 different levels for each individual profile. But wait, you can unlink the XY axis so that you can increase your Y and not your X, why would you do that? Well now you can look up and down at crazy speeds, while looking left and right at average speeds, at least that's what I did for FPS games. You can also disable the levels if you want to which is considerate of them. Than you got the light settings, you can choose a color from a select assertion of colors provided, or find the right shade of color you want via a color slider. You can make the lights super bright, or dim. Can also add in a breathing effect, solid effect or turn them off. Only one problem I found, rather inconvenient, is that the scroll wheel light is not customizable, nor can it be turned off either. You are stuck with the 5 preset colors of yellow, green, blue, magenta, and red. So if you want say, white as your color of choice, than you can have it as the logo and side buttons, but your scroll wheel will be one of the aforementioned colors depending on what level you are set at. This bothers me to a degree, but I looked past it because, well besides me, who else is going to see the mouse anyways and see what whacky color system I have going on?
Verdict
I love this mouse, it's comfy, cheaper than other gaming mice, and is easy to use. There's a lot of custumization to it that feels great and makes it feels like it's MY mouse. On a scaled of 1-10 I'd give it a 9.8 just due to that last gripe I have. Would I buy this again? Most definetly. Maybe I'd try for a newer version from Reddragon, see if they improve anything, but this mouse is pretty great and I don't see a need to get a different one.
Top reviews from other countries
I downloaded the driver off their website and tried programming the buttons and the changes don’t save and the software is very complicated to download. The computer doesn’t recognize the mouse when it’s plugged in. The key bindings always revert to default after I’ve tried to customize them. Bottom line, terrible for fortnite and terrible for gaming. However the DPI is great and the look is cool. But in regards to how it’s advertised...I’d say just spend the extra $30 and get the Logitech G502.
Very soon I developed a pain in my right index finger which I used for clicking the left button - it is not very ergonomic - at least for me.
It worked well for quite a while but the mouse has not lasted even a year. Now, it is double clicking instead of single clicking and everything is going awry. I thought it pointless to pay so much for a mouse that does not even last a year of moderate use (and I am generally careful in handling gadgets) - absolutely no rough use.
I have now opted for a basic mouse which will also last me year at a small fraction of this one's price
No idea how to get the warranty operative either - the suggested links deny that the product is theirs!
- Shape was pretty good for me
- Buttons placement seemed pretty good
Cons :
- Mouse wheel way too fast even on lowest in software and windows settings
- Side buttons unreliable, don't seem to do the combo keys you want
- Software is slow. Each time you save, it uploads something to the mouse I guess? It processes the thing you saved.
Im on Windows 10.
I read some reviews and most people seemed to say it was a good mouse.
Mine didn't work properly when I received it. The side buttons were very unreliable in game (FF14). When I tried to do combo keys, it was doing the normal key sometimes and other times the combo key.
I thought I was the problem, not understanding how to set it up but I never got an answer after more then 48 hours from support.
I decided to return it and just not order it again.
Manufacturer got in contact with me and gave me a full refund without asking for the product back. 5/5 customer service, great company. To be fair, I had to buy another mouse and cannot use this one, but if you do not plan on using the '5' side button, it might be a good mouse for you.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 1/5
The '5' key is the key that is in the middle of most people's thumb. It takes serious effort to press that key because it is in the middle of 8 other keys that are all indented. The natural press is at the top of the '5' key which is indented inside. After 12h of gaming, my right thumb is in serious strain after the effort of hitting that key all day. This never happened to me before with a Razer Naga mouse. Red Dragon needs to redesign the indentation of the keys or space them out a bit to make it more ergonomic. I cannot recommend this mouse in this state.
