An Update from what was posted yesterday: I inquired about exchanging the pair I received for a pair that was more similar to what is pictured and there response was - "The color on the straps on the Guatemalan love will vary. There are no 2 straps that are similar. But the footbed is a dark brown, like shown in the image."
Conclusion: If you want what is pictured, find it in a store somewhere, otherwise its a gamble.
Some elevation on the heel (which helps with the weak arch)
I highly recommend this particular style NOTE on "particular" because some other Reef flip flops are completely flat and have no arch support whatsoever. Believe me you would not be disappointed with this ones. My feet don't hurt at all after hours of running errands. Beautiful color, and yes they are miss-match but I don't mind, that is how there are supposed to be, and I appreciate what they are doing to help Guatemalans.
I am only giving these 4 stars because the foot bed is a much darker brown then in the image here, almost black looking, and the very bottom is not tan as in the image, but black. In fact, it looks just like the foot bed for the "Brown/Pink" color. I was really hoping for a true brown as it looks here. Also, the heal is not as high as it looks in this photo. The heal messures 3/4".
I didn't realize this when I bought these (although it does mention this in the product description), but the textile used for the straps was hand-woven by weavers in San Antonio Palapo, Guatemala, which "helps provide a sustainable income for these artisans." This is, of course, and added bonus to purchasing these flip-flops.
My foot is a wide size 7.5. I ordered these in size 7 after reading they run large. The 7 fits perfectly. For reference, I wear a size 8 in the Teva Wedge flip flops from this summer, and a Dansko 38.
As far as size, I find these run a bit small. I am usually a size 8 in sneakers and a size 7.5 in sandals or dressy shoes. However, in these I need a size 9 (My heels/toes hang off the edges a little in the size 8). So, if you are trying to decide between two sizes, I would recommend erring towards the higher size.
A note on the color that several other people have also commented on-- different shoes may have slightly different color straps. They are meant to be this way. Some of them are more rainbow, while some may be more dominated by purple/blue. As such, it is possible to get a pair of shoes that does not match. Personally, they are close enough that this does not bother me. However, if you really want them to match or you want a specific color combination, I would suggest you look for them in stores.
