I loved watching Mary find the courage to track down Reese and convince him that her "everything" was worth it. Then when the hired guns arrive in Rock Creek and do what hired guns do?? Better watch out! Lori Handeland and Linda Devlin did an excellent job of world building - I felt drawn into the story and clearly saw the town brought to life around me, filled with all sorts of characters that one can't help but fall in love with - or hate!
I adored watching Reese and Mary fall for each other and find their happily ever after. So sweet and beautiful! They both had an inner strength that complimented each other well.
I'm looking forward to reading through the remainder of the series again!
The story is kind of loose in spots, it could have a tighter construction. It is predictable, it you read a lot of this genre. Still it was entertaining with a few intriguing twists. I adore the dynamic between the two leads. It was a delight watching Mary and Reese fall in love.
The love happens kind of quick. Perhaps I should have said fall in liking. I have no doubt the emotions will grow, but it is early days. The bedroom door is half way open, not a lot of detail.
Yeah for the mixed narrative giving us insight into the characters. We have the two leads POV and a few bonus narrations as well! Most of the tale comes from Mary and Reese, as it should be in a romance.
The supporting cast is fantastic! I can not wait for these fellas to all fall! Cash and Rico are a couple favorites!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Bobbin Beam, who does a fantastic read! I really enjoyed her voices, just enough accent to make it feel authentic. Great pace and energy throughout! I would definitely look for more of her work!
Disclosure – I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thought, ratings and opinions are my own.
I recommend reading them all and in order: Reese, Sullivan, Rico, Jed, Nate, and Cash. If you like western romances, you can't fail by trying this series; but be warned, you'll come to love the town and folks of Rock Creek so much, you'll hate to see the series end! I did!
I thought that the introduction of the Rock Creek Six characters was very good. The love story was pretty good, although I thought the love scenes could have been better. I thought they were over before they got started.
I wasn't too crazy about the ending and how Reese just walks in and everything gets wrapped up nice and tidy. (I don't want to give anything away.so this is very vague intentionally.). However I am very intrigued to learn more about the Rock Creek Six. I love them all so far and will read the rest of the books in the series. If you are looking for a good western, gun slinger series, I definitely suggest you start with Reese even though I've not read the other books yet. The story that has been started for each of them in this books is excellent.
Starting "Sullivan" now.
