Great coupler lock, great value, however no size is listed in the Product Description and, regrettably, it was too small and would not fit my 22' boat trailer with an approximate 4-1/2" wide coupler. For security reasons, I liked the fact that this lock has a tubular locking mechanism, versus a convention flat key system, which is easier to pick. Learned, after the fact, that you have a better chance of having the coupler lock fit your trailer if it is described as "Universal." I compromised and re-selected a Master 379DAT Universal Trailer Coupler Lock, which had great reviews, but a flat key locking mechanism. Still, if you have a smaller 2" hitch ball, this is a great coupler lock and terrific value!

I have used one of these for almost 10 years and it has been great. It fits regular ball hitches that are 1-7/8 and 2 inch. I have not tried it on larger hitches. It naturally protects the lock from the weather and opens by threading out. It can be easily taken off or put on by feel as the lock is on the bottom. My trailer has always been there when I went back for it. That's a testament. I don't know what happened to the other poster here as mine is like fort Knox.

After I received this lock I immediately put it on my trailer. From the very first time I used it, I had a problem with the key getting stuck in the lock. After sitting on my trailer for a couple of months, I pulled the lock off so I could use the trailer. When I got home, I tried to put the lock back on my trailer only to find out that the key mechanism had frozen up. I can't turn the lock cylinder or even pull the key out. I've read other reviews that stated the lock cylinder fell out of the lock. I'm afraid that if I force the key in any direction, that's what will happen. Used it once and now its in the garbage. Very disappointed.

This is basic theft deterrent to make someone think twice, not serious security to keep a trailer from being stolen if a scumbag really wants it. It would stop some guy driving up and hooking up to the trailer in the middle of the night or something, if they have time this lock would bust from a few cracks of a 3 pound sledge, or they could quietly unbolt the coupler itself.

I had an older similar type of coupler lock but the actual lock mechanism on the device was a cut-key, almost impossible to duplicate without the original. The lock mechanism on this device is a simple pushrod barrel key, the round key pushes down some small lugs to allow for use, and there doesn't seem to be anything on the lock mechanism or key which would make it seem unique. I'm thinking that any barrel key from any of these locks would open any device, so theoretically a thief could have that key to do that but I suppose all you're really doing is measuring the odds of this happening where you keep your trailer.

I use this device along with a shrouded lever lock but only for basic security, where I live and where I keep my trailer a dude would have to pretty serious or pretty stupid to try and steal it. If I lived in a hood that wasn't as friendly I would be using a wheel boot, something that cops use to immobilize cars, you would need a chop saw to get those things off.

When I tried to turn the key it would not turn. No matter how hard I tried. I used WD-40, I hit it with a mallet, I tried to be nice, and the lock would not open. I expect to be able to open and close locks when I buy them. I don't like this lock.

I traveled for my job last year and needed to be able to lock up my tow dolly at rv parks. I purchased this device knowing it wouldn't be serious security but to keep the "honest " people "honest" . it failed miserably , not only is it possible to remove it without unlocking it , in the end it was the only way to get it off the hitch as the mechanism failed to unlock with the key. If you need to protect something of value look elsewhere.

Absolute crap. It broke when I accidentally hit my leg up against it. I bought two of them at the same time. The second one is still on there, but I do not trust it. Splurge and get the ones that cost $40 or $50.
