Though some people complain about the quality and the breakability, I'm really not sure what they're talking about.

I'm sure that these are breakable, but assuming you treat them like a match e.g. put them away neatly in a drawer, don't put them in pockets, take them out, use them, and put them back, then I imagine they'll last a long time. These seem the same quality as any I've ever used, and I've never had one break - just run out of fuel.

I can see why someone wouldn't want to toss them in a drawer or sack full of stuff that gets tossed around or compressed in various directions.

The finger ignition button/lever is pretty tough to move with sore fingers, though it seems that it might be getting easier as I use it. If I had arthritis, I really don't think I'd want to use these.

I filled it with Zippo Butane Fuel. If I don't use it for a while it takes an extra click to start.

I need super strength to ignite one.

I don't if it's just the first lighter or if all of them are like this, but the trigger is extremely difficult for me to pull. I have to use 2 hands in order to ignite it, and I'm 31 years old without any joint/muscle issues. My mom has arthritis and I could not imagine her being able to use this at all. I will later change my review after opening the 2nd and 3rd pack if they are any easier. It's a good thing they don't have one of those childproof buttons because I need all my hands' focus on just pulling the trigger. But if they are all difficult like this, I guess that would make them childproof enough. The sliding knob that adjusts the flame size works well, I put mine all the way to the lightest end for lighting candles and my gas stove & burners. Will probably use the larger flame for igniting campfires.

This lighter does NOT have a child-resistant control which I find to be a great benefit. Other units were just too hard to hold the spring return safety and hi the starter and keep the control open. Flame/gas flow has an adjustment so you don't use more gas than you need. I also like the refillable feature as I hate throwing more stuff in the landfill. They will fill from little containers or from larger (gee about 9 oz for $15 canisters). I'm about to order 2 more packs. One more (3) for each needed area. LP stove on my boat, outdoor grill, 2 wood stoves, and the 2nd set for a friend. Quality is sufficient and is a great value.

Works, but not what I ordered

I bought this 3 pack back in December 2013 and was very impressed. The most important feature to me (besides actually lighting) was that they did not have a difficult safety lock that you had to press while simultaneously pulling the trigger. I bought these specifically for my mom so all she had to do was pull the trigger. The 'safety' feature was that the trigger was somewhat stiff, but you didn't have a separate lock to operate.

They were the best refillables I have ever found, so I placed another order which I just received. Unfortunately these now have a very stiff thumb lock you need to hold while pulling thew trigger. They work, but not as convenient and not good for older hands.

I've paid much more money for comprable lighters and have never found one that I really like. Being a young ;) senior citizen, my strength is not what it could be so it is a bit hard for me to use. However, I really have not found one that IS easy to light. How about making a "senior citizen" lighter instead of always being concerned about child proof. My gkids live 1000 miles from me and seldom visit, so that is not a concern for me. For me, these are an average lighter. I do like the fact that they are refillable, but have not tried to fill one as yet so don't know how that will go.

Yes they are refillable, but not sure the construction of them would allow them long enough for you to get many uses out of them; you get the immediate sense of flimsy when you pick them up, but they do work. Of biggest note for those parents out there, there is no safety on the lighters. Pro/con depending on your view: One button simplicity for some is danger for other.

Much stiffer igniter and fuel buttons than the last ones I bought about 10 years ago but they finally died. These have a transparent window so you can see the fluid level. Wish they stated in which position you should store them in, my last ones had a hang loop made into the plastic body. I use these for my wall gas furnace and hurricane lamp mainly. Started on the first click.

UPDATE: Tried all 3 when I first received them and they all worked. The 1 I kept out for lighting my candles died though it still had fuel and I could see the igniter spark. I know it was still letting fuel out because I could hold it up go a flame and it would keep burning...throw 1 away. Take another out of the drawer and the same thing happens. Take the 3rd out of drawer and again it won't light. Doesn't do much good to have a refillable lighter if it doesn't throw enough spark to light the fuel.
