Matthew 25:35-40New International Version (NIV)
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
I will have trouble here expressing how deeply impacted and impressed I was with the book, your writing style, openness on sensitive subjects (that are also on my mind), personal vulnerability, and your God given ability to connect biblical truths to situations you see in the world of the “have’s” to the world of those less fortunate. I could not put the book down and my wife and I read it out loud each night while lingering in bed before we fell asleep. In many places I choked back tears. It touched both of us deeply and with God’s small whisper caused me to make a few immediate changes. It caused me to write a loving note to my youngest son. I also pulled out my bible to remind me of the referenced passages. I also put on hold a major purchase (with 4 wheels) that did not seem to be important anymore.
