Raining Pleasure is an alternative rock group from Patras, Greece. In this album they perform the music composed by Manos Hadjidakis and originally performed by the New York Rock & Roll Ensemble in the early 70s. The production quality is great, the music well performed, layered and strcutured in a lovely way, the instruments vary giving an interesting sound and the version I have in my hands comes in a cute digipack with a rich booklet. Definitely worth having.

I stumbled across this band on My Space a couple months ago. Living in the States, their albums are near impossible to find. Luckily, I just went to Greece on my honeymoon and found the last 4 of their 5 brilliant albums. Each one is very different from the next. They seem to be fairly well known in Greece.

Reflections -while pop/rock/indie music- it has many elements of traditional Greek music influences found throughout. Some great instrumentals (not found in enough pop/indie music. Anyone remember the Monochrome Set?). Lovely harmonies and melodies. Great variety from dripping guitars to classical piano and strings. I hope these guys are getting fat off their music. They deserve it.

If you can find this album, take a chance and buy it. Most likely you'll love it!

The original album, "Reflections" by The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble holds a special place in my heart. NYR&RE was such an under-appreciated group, with several masterful releases. At the top of the list is Reflections, done in collaboration with Manos Hadjidakis.

To have a current group cover this album is a tribute to this achievement. I originally thought there was no way Raining Pleasure could do this justice. They did that, and more.
