Some reviewers have complained that the notes come from a Reformed Faith perspective, but you would have to be very particular about your Arminian Faith position to find any issues with these notes. As a Presbyterian, I am of the Reformed position, but unless you are strongly Arminian, you won't see any issues!
So, for those who already have the first edition and are thinking about buying the second, here are the changes:
1) a new presentation (To: - From:) page.
2) a new color map set in the back of the book.
3) a new "Read the Bible in a year" schedule.
4) a new paper dust jacket.
5) thinner paper.
The text of the Bible has not changed, as far as I could tell. All the same text is on the same page numbers.
Had I not lost my first edition and had bought the second, I would have been very disappointed.
For those who do not have this study Bible, I would recommend it to any student of the Bible. It has helpful notes, great theological articles and the ESV text is so easy to read. I use mine everyday.
This bible has give me a thirst to study God's word unlike ever before. Along with the bible study courses that are offered at Ligonier Ministries, I have come so far in REALLY studying and learning about the Bible and our wonderful God. This Reformation Study Bible is so precious to me.
The ESV Study Bible is timely because it comes now when there is so much confusion about "The GOD" of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. God has not changed!!! But to read and listen to 89% of the writers today, He has. It is very refreshing to have something so Biblically sound that takes us back to our roots. I LOVE IT!!!
I love this ESV translation because it stays with the rhythm of my old King James, but with alot more understanding. I have no credentials, but who needs them this English Translation is "The Word of God" that has always been.
