I now own two of these players. I bought the first some time ago at full price. I bought a second one for my wife recently at about half price. The price is down more now. If you need an MP3 player, get it now. These XFI's are no longer in production due to the new the XFI-2. Don't bother getting a 16 or 32gb player because the XFI has an SD card slot. Buy a 4 or 8gb instead as the SD card slot will give you unlimited song storage. I use 4-8-16gb cards interchangably without a glitch.

Creative's XFI technology and high end earbuds make this player as good or better than IPod in sound quality. In addition to the SD card slot, there is FM radio, voice recorder as well as pictures, video, calendar, equalizer, and external speaker.

Down side: 1. controls require some learning curve
2. external speaker is tinny
3. does not come with case, car,ac charger or arm band. (all available on Amazon)

Pro:
-very portable
-perfect size with nice weight
-Very nice sound options
-vibrant colors
-good battery life
-Easy to use
-plenty of space
-great price
-no need for itune
Con:
Memory card is separate unit (fine for me since I don't want it integrated anyways)
confusing software (I don't even bother using, works fine without their included software)
video conversion takes a long time and not worth it.

Summary: This is the mp3 player that gets you more bang for the buck, originally retailed for $149 is now less then half that. and it is still a great one.

I have been a fan of Creative products for years. I have always found the ease of use and sound quality to be of the highest caliber. I purchased this refurbished product when my xPod stopped charging. It was an affordable replacement with features I wanted including FM radio, SD expansion slot, external speaker, and a USB non-proprietary cable.

Pros:
*Great Audio Quality both mini external speaker & through earphone jack.
*Playlist built on the fly with the device - but impossible to use with any amount of ease.
*Perfect portable size, about the L x W of a credit card.
*Nice display.
*Expansion slot (Normal SD card, NOT a micro SD)
*Creative does not require the use of any specific or proprietary software to add media to the device from a computer.
*Drag and drop media from computer directly to device. Simple, easy, clean. Speedy transfer using JetAudio.

Cons:
*Display fragile, scratches and mars easily. Protective skin is absolutely necessary to keep the display clean.
*User interface is confusing. Navigation using the 9 directional/selection buttons + 4 action buttons are excessive without adding functionality. In fact, the many buttons cause this player to be frustrating & confusing to use. Naming anything on the player is a T9-like experience, and is extremely impractical.
*Playlist creation is frustrating. I love to create a playlist on my media device. This should be a normal function on any media player. Although Creative Zen products are capable of this feature, I found it impossible to manage to build a single playlist. The interface and buttons made this seemingly simple task cumbersome and unusable.
*Once media is placed onto the device, if not pre-sorted, it is difficult to find songs.

1. It arrived at least three days before promised by Amazon. No complaint. Early is good!
2. It is 'way smaller than expected. Where did I get the idea that it would be the size of a pack of cards? It's not. It's tiny but has a plenty big screen, even for us oldsters! It immediately fits in the hand, feels and looks completely new.
3. The buttons are also tiny. Probably unusable by people with very short fingernails.
4. The "Quick Start" folder is also tiny with miniscule print, diagrams. Fortunately I have an over-the-head magnifier, the kind jewelers have. Otherwise, find a willing mouse with a tiny magnifying glass to carry device around and operate it for you. Or, just get over it and punch away. The learning curve is mercifully quick and easy.
5. The menus are clear and easy.
6. This device (I also have a Sansa) is for book downloads and classical albums. If that's what you plan to do, you should know that when you go to Audible to start the process of creating a book-buying membership and if you're already signed into Amazon, it's a breeze. It recognizes you, knows your credit card #. Within 15 minutes I became a member, downloaded two hefty books that went straight into the Creative Zen X-fi, into the correct folder. At the 20-minute mark, player-taming was complete and the book was playing, through the speaker, at my desk.
7. Audio through the included earbuds is unexpectedly good.

Maybe something will go wrong. In the meantime, this is by far the most user-friendly player I've owned. Bluetooth would be nice. But in the meantime, for someone wanted something that offers a good audio experience -- classical music, podcasts, and books -- this could hardly be better. A little bigger would be nice. No other complaints.

BTW, along with the tiny "Quick Start" folder, Creative provides an installation disk that does the trick. All very user-friendly, helpful.
