This was very different. It wasn't a normal happy ending in a traditional sense, which gave it a real feeling. Two different people from two religions, trying to stay apart keep coming back together like magnets. It is definitely a religious pack, be prepared for that part. However, it was true to both religions, a good story, and shows how nothing can prevent love when it's meant. I know a woman who married a man not of her faith, actually saying it that way I know several, this particular one had a happy ending because they fulfilled her full religion. Anyway, it was just a fascinatingly real love story.

A very intriguing and deep subject for a Christian romance . A “Mormon “ girl and a “Mennonite” boy, both with strong convictions of their religions. But love has no boundaries. A wonderful story of choices and consequences, family and faith, believing in yourself and the one you love.

This book was great. I didn’t feel the initial spark the way the characters claimed to, it didn’t feel as real but over time that spark felt much more real. This book dealt with the social and religious issues surrounding a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a Mennonite falling in love and pursuing marriage. My heart hurt for them and rejoiced for them. I cried, I laughed, I smiled. I loved learning a little bit more about Mennonites and feel much respect was given to both faiths. Melissa and Troy were both worth rooting for. I loved so much that despite differences, they felt a spark and many times were able to recognize their similarities. We NEED this in our society. We are all brothers and sisters. We need to recognize our similarities and put them first like these characters were able to. This was a powerful read and made me think, while still being a quick read (mainly because I couldn’t put it down!). I received a free copy of the book as one of the author’s newsletter subscribers. My review was not influenced by this because I greatly love the way this author weaves such powerful stories.

Two in love but from such different backgrounds.

This is an interesting story-boy meets girl who are the same but oh so different. He’s Mennonite and she’s Mormon ( Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), both very conservative with prohibitions not there in other faiths. He will be excommunicated if they marry and she will be giving up dreams of her own, but they love each other deeply and are determined to make it work. It’s realistic as they really look at what being married would involve and the changes they will have to make over and above normal new newlyweds. Parents, family and friends all have their opinions about the relationship which makes it hard. Tenets of both religions are brought up and briefly covered. This is a daring subject to write about and Julie uses care, being unapologetic about each faith and having both being strong in their own beliefs.

Cute story! So tricky. Two different faiths. Two bold, strong characters who are trying to find a way to make a life together. They didn’t quite work through their problems the way I would have, and I wish they would have done more exploring of each other’s faith, but the whole story and the ending was super cute!

Melissa, a Mormon, gets a job as manager of a farm and tractor store in a Mennonite community. Troy is a Mennonite farmer who meets Melissa at her store.This was an interesting book, learning about both the Mormons and the Mennonites and the differences in their beliefs. A sweet clean romance that shows all the stumbling blocks in their way. Enjoyed this book.
