“Jerramy Fine is almost too good to be true: a beautiful, intelligent American girl who thinks there’s something attractive and romantic about upper-class Englishmen. It’s heartwarming to know that there are still people out there who think of England as a fairy-tale kingdom.”

In a brief, it is a manual for any American girl who has ever dreamed of moving to the United Kingdom in search of her prince.
Basing Regal Rules for Girls on her own experience, which she wrote about in her wonderfully entertaining memoir Someday My Prince Will Come, Jerramy offers a guide for other plucky American women to pursue their own prince charming. However, unlike other self-help books filled with inspirational platitudes, this one offers a pragmatic and calculated approach towards achieving happily ever after. Call it a reality check for would be Cinderellas. If you want the glass slipper, you're going to have to work for it.
Forget dreaming about your prince, you'll have to single-mindedly hunt him down in his natural environment. Jerramy offers tips on how to spot your prey based on physical characteristics and educational background, and recommends the best 'Regal Hunting Grounds' (Polo matches, sailing, skiing in the Alps) with accompanying websites. Should the need arise, essential survival skills are provided: the full lyrics to God Save the Queen, classic martini recipe, diagram for how to properly tie a bow tie, sailing lingo to impress your nautical suitor, and a pronunciation guide so you don't unwittingly become a social pariah when you just want to relax on the couch (err..sofa).
All sorts of unromantic territory is covered: government visas, finding an apartment (err..flat-share), gaining employment, finding proper dental care, and the best place to purchase American food staples. Buying the plane ticket is the easy part. If navigating the unspoken minefield of British social intricacies doesn't dissuade you, nothing else will.
Following these rules to the letter you will have no excuse for not being successful in your pursuit. The Regal Rules for Girls offers all of the tips you'll need to get there. Happily ever after is now up to you.
And to the reviewer who claims if Ms. Fine went to Choate she would somehow have a different/better perspective-- personally I think that is a ridiculous statement. I went to an exclusive girls' boarding school (with alums like Jackie O) and I think Ms. Fine nailed it. Fortunately, her background gives her the benefit of picking up on those cues that an insider from birth would never even be aware of.
Ok, so Jerramy might not have been born in the UK but she did meet and marry someone from there. This helped to add to her knowledge of the place. So glad that Jerramy decided to share her wealth of knowledge in The Regal Rules for Girls. Don't be fooled by the title as the book can also be read and enjoyed by grown women. Although, we just may not voice our dreams as loudly as the little girls that we have dreamed or still wish to meet and marry a prince and be swept away to his castle.
In this book, Jerramy helps provide you with the tools to snag yourself a prince. Hey Catherine did it! Even if you do not meet your royal prince, you still can meet a nice Englishmen and get married. If I was traveling to the UK, I would pack a travel guide book and this book. In this book you will learn how to act like you belong and are not just a tourist. Jerramy also inserts some humor into this book as well. So if you want to make your dreams a reality, then you should check this book out.
