The line up features lead singer Stelios Tsakirides, guitarists Johnnie Athanasiadi and Pavlos Georgiades, keyboardist Sefis Giolbasis, bassist Fotis Toumanides and drummer Bill Kanakis. Each instrument plays a vital part in the music of "Emeral Sun" particularly when considering how well the melodic twin guitar attack harmonizes with the keyboards, all topped by the accent-free vocals of Tsakirides. The singer, a real find for the band, is vocally reminiscent of Michael Vescera, Rob Halford and Michael Kiske.
If one was to further specify the sound of the band would suggest that "Emeral Sun" sounds like a mixture of "Pretty Maids", "Domain" and "Helloween". Having said that, each song on "Regeneration" is clearly differentiated from the rest and quite often brings to mind a particular well known band of the genre. "Speak of the Devil" has the speed and chorus and title you would expect from a "Bloodbound" song. "Planet Metal" is the anthemic melodic metal tune in the style of "Gamma Ray"; never forgetting the "Avantasia"-influenced "Fantasmagoria" and the cover version of "Holding out for a hero" which is reinvented as a male-female power metal duet. Overall "Emerald sun-Regeneration" is a rather fresh offering in the genre of Euro-power metal, evidently prioritizing great songwriting and performances over originality. If you are a fan of Power metal you will definitely not be disappointed by this purchase, on the contrary this is amongst the most substantial release of the genre for 2011.
