This 49 page book covers the development of the Reggiane fighters and their service in Regia Aeronautica, Swedish and Hungarian service as well as the later service as part of the Co-belligerent Air Force (after the Italian Armistice in 1943).
The book has brief sections of text however black and white photos abound with two pages of colour plates of the various aircraft using both the in-line engines and also radial engined versions.
I enjoyed this book, it is brief, concise and has a wealth of pictorial references that look at every aspect of the aircraft.
A great reference book on these aircraft, the book is sure to be of good reference to kit modellers of these aircraft.
Well done, George Punka.
Punka does a nice job of summarizing the life and times of the tubby Re.2000 and its progeny. Employed mainly as fighters - the 2002 was a purpose-built fighter-bomber - the Reggianes gave workmanlike service on various fronts and in various air forces (Hungary, Sweden, etc.). However the obsolescent design, inadequate armament and engine problems limited the fighter's usefulness.
Over 90 photographs are included along with Don Greer's customary color profiles.
Anyone interested in Regia Aeronautica fighters will enjoy Punka's book. Recommended.
It's a shame the Re.2005 was developed so late; it looks like a lean, mean killing machine!
