As the years fly by, I have been taking steps towards a healthy lifestyle by modifying my eating habits and increasing my physical activity but because I did not understand much about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), I did not realize how important the role of hormone levels plays in this equation. After reading RejuveNation, I am eager to put some of what I learned to work as soon as possible, as is my husband. Based on the experiences detailed in RejuveNation, My husband & I are hopeful that before the end of this summer, we will be feeling years younger.
The book covers hormone treatment and exercise (a must) in the same candid easy to understand fashion I experienced when working with Dr. Kerr. Does it work? If feeling stronger and having more energy at 68 than I did at 48 means anything, if receiving constant compliments from friends, family members and even strangers means anything, the answer is YES!
Having read the book I can say that I am both intrigued by the information on hormone therapy, exercise and nutrition and delighted to hear the same warm and engaging style which Bart has had since I've known him. Feeling some of the same "blahs" that he describes, in spite of being in what I consider good physical condition, I am very interested in understanding how to feel that same sense of "coolness" again about life, which Bart describes so well in this book. I'm a military veteran and get my health care at the VA and have been told that my testosterone is "good enough", being in the low-middle of the range. The information contained within this book makes me want to get another opinion and support to find a better level of enjoyment in life that Bart describes.
There's a ton of great information in the book about diet and exercise, which for me was a skim through because I already learned this stuff from Bart when we were too young to vote! He still has a fantastic foundation in exercise and nutrition and it has been enhanced by his lifelong learning and dedication in the subject. His focus on tailoring programs to all ages, genders and giving concrete examples of how various options work for some and not for others is really illuminating.
The sections on endocrinology are fascinating and I enjoyed both the parts where there were significant benefits as well as some that didn't seem to do much, particularly for the cost. Bart was up-front about the benefits, risks and costs and the sections where he related his own experiences with the regimens were very illuminating and brought the information home.
My only regret is I am too far away to go to Bart's rejuvenation center to get tested and get my levels right! This book has me very interested in figuring out how I can achieve the level of wellness, fitness and even happiness that the numerous patient stories he shares illustrated.
