I took the opportunity to watch this movie and was very touched. I thought Eriq La Salle played his roll very well. From the beginning his character (Walter) was a very mild manner guy whom couldn't face the fact that he wouldn't be able to live up to his family's expectation after suffering the career ending knee surgery. To come back home and be face with the scrutiny from his family, finding his wife is now seeing, dating, and planning a future with his brother, Walter was very calm. I don't really know if he was understanding. On the other hand, his brother displays lots of anguish. This was a tear jerker. This story is not typical of an African American family in the mere fact that a brother marries the wife of his brother. None the less, I thought it was excellent.

I was quite impressed with this DVD. It carried with it a great plot. Each actor in it was awesome. This is definitely not a low budget movie--even though you may not have ever heard of it before. A man abandons his wife after suffering an injury in football and while he is away, his wife takes up a new relationship with her husbands brother. When he receives notification that his father has passed away, he returns back home to face not only the death, but his wife with his brother now, his mother who always has and continues to carry a soft place in her heart for a son regardless, and two very intelligent children who have truly missed their dad. The plot thickens in every scene which makes this a brilliant watch. I thououghly enjoyed so much that I watched it twice back to back just to make certain that I didn't miss anything. It will leave you with pretty powerful thoughts surrounding family values, morals, ethics, children, marriage, a mothers love, and feelings of loss when you feel like all hope is gone.

This movie is highly recommended for a family going through changes of separation, hope, and anything surrounding judging
other family members.

A man abandons his wife and children and does not come back until his father dies because the man needs the money that he hopes his father left him. The man keeps apologizing for his six years of abandonment and he blames his father for expecting too much of him. People end up forgiving him BECAUSE he is their son, brother, father, husband. Not a good reason. But what the heck, this is supposed to be a feel-good movie and i was moved by the resolution.

"..."Relative Stranger" is quite an uplifting film. Of course, that's what you'd expect out of a movie that was made for the Hallmark channel. It doesn't go crazy sugarcoating the drama between family members that feel betrayed by one another, either. The acting is also terrific, especially from the kids playing the son and daughter of the abandoning father." -Lance; Cruciflicks Co-Founder

"Finally. A faith-based feature that didn't leave me rolling my eyes and muttering "Yeah, like that would ever happen."" -Mary; Cruciflicks Co-Founder

An amazing story with an equally talented cast. The trinity of La Salle, Michelle, and Beach will always be classic. Cically Tyson is an acting queen!
